Hi I'm Kelly

I'm a student, a mother of 4 wonderful children, grandmother to 4 gorgeous grandchildren and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have a passion for healthy living. I especially enjoy riding my bike. I also enjoy snow skiing when ever I get a chance and I love to go scuba diving. My family is my pride and joy. I have 4 wonderful children, 3 are married and my youngest is a missionary in Alaska. I have 2 fabulous grand children and 2 more on the way. After my children all left home I went back to school and am currently pursuing finishing my bachelors degree.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was baptized a Mormon as a child, and went to church every Sunday I didn't really become converted to Mormonism until after I left home and went to college. It was during that period of my life when I began to question my own beliefs and wanted to know for myself if Mormonism was what I wanted in my life. I had always known that God lives and that Jesus Christ is my Savior but I needed to know for myself if Joseph Smith was a prophet. I started reading the Book of Mormon and found that I couldn't put the book down. Although I had heard the stories growing up, for some reason reading it this time was different for me. I read in Mosiah 2:9 ..."you should hearken unto me, and open your ears that ye may hear, and your heart that ye may understand, and your minds that the mysteries of God may be unfolded to your view". As I opened up my heart, so I could understand and my ears so that I could hear I truly did learn for myself that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God sent here in this dispensation to restore God's church here on earth again. I came to know that not by some big sign but by a peaceful feeling within my soul. It's a feeling hard to describe, but it's real and I knew that it was an answer to my prayers and a result of opening up my ears so I could hear the whisperings of the Spirit and an open heart so I could understand.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is just part of my life. It's not something I do just on Sundays, it's something I do every day. My religion is a life time commitment not a weekly commitment so with each breath that I take and every thing that I do my life is centered around my standards and beliefs. I don't just talk the talk but I also walk the walk, not only in my speech but also in my actions and my dress. I hope that others around me can see that I carry the spirit of the Lord with me. On Sundays I teach the adult Sunday School class and this gives me the opportunity to study the scriptures every day. This service has helped me learn more about Jesus Christ and given me a resolve to follow his perfect example. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and hope that others can see my commitment to Him through the things I do and say.
