Hi I'm Larisa

I'm a wife, mother, gardener, crafter, and animal enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my mid-twenties but still very much a girl at heart. I am a wife to a wonderful Filipino man, and a mother to two young children with a third on the way. I love to spend time in my garden, growing all sorts of plants. I love to learn how to do new things all the time. I'm also very much into many kinds of crafting! I love to sew the most - I took clothing construction classes in school and I love to sew clothes for myself, my kids, and our toys. I love to experiment with making my own patterns for sewing clothes. I also love to scrapbook and make cards. I love to use my craft abilities to decorate my home, such as re-painting a frame instead of buying a new one or re-covering a padded chair with new fabric. I also love interior design and try to do my best to make my house look nice while having crazy kids running around. I love all kinds of animals! I have owned many animals over my lifetime and especially have spent a lot of time with cats. I have an interest in dog behavior and training. My favorite part about having animals as a part of my life is teaching my children gentleness and responsibility.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family of church members. As a teenager I was very shy and many times felt lonely. As a result, I came to rely more and more upon my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I grew to have a firm testimony of the love they have for me and their awareness of who I was and what I was going through. Since then, even when I have hard times and may doubt what I am doing, I can always pray and be reminded of that love. The more I learn about the Gospel in this church, the more the world makes sense and the more strength I receive in every aspect of my life. Whenever I go to church or to the temple, I feel like I am stepping into a safe-haven, surrounded by those who care for me even if they don't know me. I know that as I try harder to follow the teachings of Christ and of our prophets, my life will be richer, happier, and more fulfilling.

How I live my faith

My life right now is really focused on my children. I try to do my best to be the kind of person I hope they will someday be. They are still young, but I try my best to teach my children to know right from wrong and to know that their Savior loves them. I serve with the Cub Scout pack from the church in this area. Last year (before the summer break) I was involved with the Wolves, who are the 8 year old cub scouts. This fall I will continue to work with the Cub Scouts. It is a very intense job, but it is also very rewarding to see how the boys grow through the year and to know I played a part in that.
