Hi I'm Don

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my wife, our 5 daughters and their husbands, our 8 granddaughters, and our 7 grandsons. I grew up in Eagar, Az. I love raising cattle, gardening, hauling hay, feed stores, country music, dutch oven cooking, irrigating, log trucks, guns, and good fishing holes. I love cool mountain mornings, crisp clean air, fall colors, mountain spring water, deep snow and hot wood fires.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in an LDS town to Mormon parents who both trace their ancestors to early members of the church. I was baptized and confirmed a member when I was eight years old. That is not why I'm a Mormon though technically it made me a member. I'm a Mormon because I have studied and prayed and asked God. ( James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him). I testify that Holy Ghost will reveal the truth of all things to those that study and pray sincerely about them to our Heavenly Father. I know that God lives. Jesus is the Christ and is our Savior and Redeemer.

How I live my faith

I am a Mormon because I try to live the commandments that He has given us though I fall short. I read the scriptures. I pray about the things that I study. Peace comes with a confirmation that these things are true and in knowing that He is in control. I try to repent of the things I do that are wrong. I have learned that a smile, a small courtesy, a good word, a pat on the back, a comforting word, an inexpensive gift, a meal, and a listening ear are a few ways to show our love to the Lord. I try to live my faith by serving those around me. By mourning with those that mourn. By offering comfort to those that need comforting. By trying to do what is right in all situations. In doing so, I find my burden gets lighter, my problems become trivial, and my gratitude to Heavenly Father increases. I have served in Church assignments ranging from working with children, young men, and currently have an assignment of working with the elderly. +

What is faith?

Don
To have faith is to “hope for things which are not seen, which are true” (see Book of Mormon, Alma 32:21 and Hebrews 11:1). Each day you act upon things you hope for, even before you see the end result. This is similar to faith. Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on your belief in Him. It is a principle of action and power. The Book of Mormon prophet Alma compared faith to a seed. If you plant a seed and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and eventually bear fruit (Alma 32:28-43). It is the same with faith. If you are obedient to God’s commandments, study His word, and have a desire to believe in Christ, faith will grow inside of you. Show more Show less
