Hi I'm Ruth

I'm from Texas. I'm an engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Even though my job as a petroleum engineer is very technical I enjoy doing non-technical things in my personal time. I am an avid reader (Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien), I love to write, and I enjoy music. I've played the oboe since I was 11 years old. Another hobby I really enjoy is baking - anything from cookies to cakes to bread. Traveling is also something I love to do when I have the vacation time to do it. I've been to England, Italy, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Egypt. I also like exercising, especially swimming, and I'm learning to ski.

Why I am a Mormon

The fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has always rung true in my heart and mind. When I look at the beauties of this world, it makes sense that we have a loving Father in Heaven who created it for us and that there is a plan by which all of us can be redeemed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The eternal nature of the family is a truth that I hold very dear to my heart. I've found that the gospel brings peace into my life during both the good and hard times. I know I can turn to the Savior in joy or in sorrow and that He will understand how I feel. Doing my best to follow the example of Christ makes me a better person.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my very best to follow the example set by Jesus Christ. Keeping the commandments brings peace and joy into my life and frees me from worries that would result from breaking the commandments. I am currently serving as the secretary of our ward's women's organization, and one of my responsibilities is taking the roll every Sunday. It has been a great opportunity to get to know the names of all the wonderful women in our ward!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Ruth
Absolutely! We love the Bible and its teachings. I especially love to read the accounts of Christ's life in the gospels. Reading the Christmas story every year is one of my favorite family traditions. Show more Show less
