Hi I'm Betsy

A.K.A. Mom, grandma, friend, sister, missionary, bookworm, chef, seamstress, and crafter. I grew up in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the proud mother of 7 children and 13 grandchildren. My education has come through all of the reading I do and life's experiences. (School of hard knocks!) I refer to myself as a domestic engineer! I have had the rare opportunity to be a stay at home mom. I laughingly state that I have a doctorate in 'MOMOLOGY" truly a Dr. mom! I love to sing and play the piano. I love to travel, visiting many exotic places in the world. I have spent many hours in volunteer service at my childrens schools. Mostly volunteering in the school library. I LOVE BOOKS! I love to read and love most genres. I Love to scrapbook, but using the same techniques, right now I enjoy making cards. I love to personalize them. I crochet. I love to tend my flower gardens, I enjoy a well manicured yard. I am a chef just for fun...a chef being someone who manipulates flavors. I really enjoy cooking for others, 'If you love somebody, cook them good food". I love the outdoors. Along with my husband we love to explore areas on our road bike, a Yamaha 1300. I love outdoor time with my family; hiking, camping and especially four wheeling. Experiencing the Paiute trails in southern Utah and trails that lead up through the northern Utah and southern Idaho mountains. Part of camping is cooking and expermenting with my dutch ovens. I love cooking gourmet meals in the great outdoors. I have taught many groups how to cook gourmet dutch oven and tin foil dinners.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel, the comfort and guidance to me in my life is a true blessing, unequaled to anything else in my life. I was 'born' into the church and baptised when I was eight. Just like others, I had to know for myself and have the witness of the Holy Ghost confirm to me what I know to be true. I have an unwavering testimony to the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It dictates how I choose to live my life. To abstain from the use of things that would harm me. To be virtuous, clean and chaste in my thoughts and actions. I choose to live the laws and commandments because I have been so richly blessed in my life for so doing. It is not hard to live, to really live my religion. I testify that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us knows each of us personally. That we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who died that ALL mankind might enjoy the blessings spoken of in Moses 1:39 "For behold, this is My work and My glory to bring to pass the immortatlity and eternal life of man." Also, "That for me a sinner, he sufferered and died for me!" Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He restored this gospel to the earth. The heavens were opened and he saw God and Jesus Christ and spoke with them. We have a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, who communicates with Heaven and recieves revelation for this church in these latter days!

How I live my faith

For many years I have had the opportunity to play the piano and the organ for church services. I have also been able to teach in classes of all ages. One of my favorite callings in the church was that of Gospel Doctrine teacher in sunday school. Probably because I really had to study and KNOW the stuff that I was teaching and to make sure it was taught correctly. I was the one that learned the most! I have also served as a leader and teacher in several organizations in my ward and stake. I loved serving the cub scouts for many years. I was a camp director for many years in my ward and then for several years in the Stake. I love being with young women (girls from ages 12 to 18) and love the outdoors, so it would be natural for me to love teaching and enjoying camps with these young women. I love to share my talents with others in all walks of life and all faiths. I am willing to serve where I am needed and asked. I have just had the experience to serve as a companion to my husband who was called to preside over a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I loved being a missionary and serving our missionaries. I love my missionaries!
