Hi I'm Patricia Louise

I'm a Mormon. I was baptized at age 36. Served a full time mission 2.5 years later. Teacher and professional writer. Retired

About Me

Taught Chemistry, Biology and Math. Professional writer, operating own business for 20 years. Currently retired, and serious genealogist. Love people, and learning. Avid gardener. Decorate home with large house plants. Present companion is a 15 year old grey cat. Love the church, my Mormon friends and my neighbors. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is awesome. The Book of Mormon is indeed a valuable companion to the Bible. I have studied both in detail. I am happy. I have a purpose in life which is very fulfilling. I speak of genealogy. Love reading "cozies", gentle mysteries. Enjoy crocheting, embroidery and jigsaw puzzles. Life is very good.

Why I am a Mormon

My initial contact was a display of Mexican art and history at the university where I was taking classes. The two young men who manned the booth asked me if I would like to hear more. I gave them my name and address. This was the start of learning something which seemed to be familiar. The first thing which impressed me is my instant faith that the Latter-Day Saint church has the true priesthood. From that everything flows. These are true ordinances, performed by men holding the priesthood from Jesus Christ. I have never doubted that. Baptized at 36 meant a lot of catch-up learning. I am still learning. Enjoy that. I am happy. Life is very good.

How I live my faith

At present, I am a senior with somewhat limited mobility. However, I can be a good neighbor to my friends here at the apartment complex. I crochet items for seniors in assisted living. I am a visiting teacher, earlier making monthly visits to my sisters. Now, I write monthly notes to sisters. I have served in the children's Sunday School as a pianist. I also served in the women's organization as a pianist. For fun I performed piano solos during our Sunday meeting. As a first generation member of over 30 years, I have served in many capacities. Teaching Sunday School, the women and children Sunday activities. I served 5 part time missions. In the Bishop's Storehouse, and as a support person for the church's Family History Department in Salt Lake City. Answering the phone was pretty cool. Enjoyed helping patrons with their computer issues. Computers open the world to me. With my health, the technology provides opportunities to serve and provides a reason for getting up in the morning. Thinking outside of myself is a very good thing. Thinking of others is very good. This is something about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which pleases me greatly. Opportunities to serve and make a difference.
