Hi I'm Cameron

I'm a Mormon. I study biology and spanish at UNLV and I love basketball. Growing up in Las Vegas helped me decide who I want to be

About Me

I'm from Las Vegas and love my hometown! I'm a student at UNLV and will soon start my senior year. I enjoy learning about life and cultures even if getting the grades I want seems impossible at times. I love basketball! It's a great stress reliever when I need to take a quick break from school. I have a lot of fun playing with friends and cheering on my Rebels at the games. After high school I went to Chile to be a missionary and learned a lot about life outside of my comfortable home in the U.S. I met great people there that I still love. Lessons I learned growing up in a home where the Gospel of Jesus Christ was taught continue to help me as a student today.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, I went to church with my family simply because my family went. But in my early teenage years there was a lesson in church and the teacher encouraged us to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know that it's the word of God. I had never done it before so I figured it might be a good idea. I vividly remember kneeling at the side of my bed and saying a sincere prayer, asking my Heavenly Father to let me know if the Book of Mormon were true or not. After praying I picked up the book and started to read. I remember a distinct, clear but subtle feeling in my chest that the story I was reading really happened. I knew at that moment that prophets lived here in the ancient Americas and the resurrected Savior visited these lands. Since the Book of Mormon is from God, it must have come to me by the hand of God so I know that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet and replace the Church of Jesus Christ back on the Earth in its original form. I know that God continues to call prophets in our days to lead us and guide us, and to be His voice in our times just as He did in the times of Noah and Moses.

How I live my faith

I try to be the kind of person that Jesus was- loving, kind, helpful, obedient, diligent and hopeful. I'm not great at it, but I believe that if I sincerely try then I can repent of my short-comings and because of what Jesus Christ did for me, I'll be made clean and worthy to return and live with him and my Heavenly Father again.
