Hi I'm Shellie Tailleur

I grew up in Utah. I attended college then married my best friend Doug. We now live in WA with our 4 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I the youngest in a family of 4 girls. I grew up water skiing in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. We were very close. My parents also taught us to love the gospel and serve others. I hope to be able to teach my 4 children this as well. I met my husband at church and we married a year later. We have been married now for 15 years. I am a stay at home mom. To help with my families expenses, I clean houses for around 5 hours a week, and I am extremely frugal. I love making our income stretch and am always on the lookout for a good deal. My husband and I have moved several times. We can't make up our minds if we would rather live in Utah or Washington. We are currently in Washington, but I wouldn't be surprised if someday we make it back to Utah. One of our family’s favorite things to do together is to play games. We love sitting around the table and playing together. Growing up I remember my father staying up really late and reading. He has passed the love of a good book down to me, and I often catch my son up late reading as well. I love to do crafts. I'm not particular as to anything, I love it all. We just moved into a new home, so I am using that skill in decorating it. I also enjoy volunteering at my kid’s school. I love to get to know their friends and teachers.

Why I am a Mormon

My family ancestors have been members of the church all the way back to the pioneer times. I was very lucky to be born into a strong LDS family. However just because I was born in to an LDS family, that doesn’t mean that I didn't have to gain my own testimony. I do think it was easier for me, because that is all I've ever known. My testimony has been gained all throughout my life. It probably started in primary, when as a child I learned about Jesus and his teachings. It continued on in my teenage years when I started studying the scriptures on my own. It has continued to grow throughout the rest of my life as I’ve lived and faced life challenges. I can see the difference in my life and my family’s life’s when I am doing what I know to be right, and when I am not. I love that the church teaches us to love others and to be Christ like. I am a very shy person. I have a hard time going outside of my box, but the church helps me to do this. It helps me to develop my talents and get to know others. It gives me a sense of security that no matter where I go, or what I do, I will always have friends to support me and help me be a better person. I have never questioned if the church is not true. It just makes sense to me. I love the gospel, I love the teachings, and I love the way it affects me in my life.

How I live my faith

My current calling has me involved with the Youth. I am the secretary in this organization. This involves planning good activities for the kids from the age groups of 12 to 18. Some of the activities that we plan for the girls would be Girls camp (a week of camp filled with skill and testimony building activities) Youth dances, firesides, sporting events and other activities. I love watching these girls grow though the years. I have seen girls progress from a 12 year old, which is nervous to start junior high into a confident lovely women leave for college. We try to instill in these young girls confidence in knowing that they are a Child of God, and that they deserve the best. We teach them to have strong morals, serve others, and to love Christ. I also am a visiting teacher. With this calling I am assigned several women in the community to check on and visit with on a regular basis. This once again causes me to go outside of my box and overcome my shy nature. It’s wonderful to grow close to these women and become their friends. I volunteer at my children’s school on a regular basis. I think it is so important to be involved and know the school that they are involved in. I love sitting with the kids and watching them learn and grow. I also love getting to know the teachers of my children.
