Hi I'm Rick

I'm a husband, father, Engineer, sports & outdoors enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and have four sons. I am an Engineer in the space industry (rockets & satellites). My hobbies include sports (e.g. racquetball, softball, basketball & ballroom dance) and model cars or rockets. Lately I have taken to playing regular pick-up games of basketball and volleyball at our local church meeting houses. I also enjoy biking and walking in the open space near our home. I'm an Eagle Scout and currently serve as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America for our church-sponsored unit. I love camping, hiking, biking, and skiing in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have received a personal witness of the truthfulness of the Church through the Holy Ghost. I was born into a member family and taught the doctrines from my youth. It wasn't until my teen years, however, that I decided to find out for myself. I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Father in Heaven to know whether this book and the Church were true. I received an unmistakable feeling of warmth and peace. I have since knelt on countless occasions to ask God for guidance on specific doctrines, teachings, or issues in my life. I can say without hesitation that Jesus is the Christ and He is my Savior. I also know that God lives, loves me, and has heard and answered my prayers -- sometimes right away, sometimes after years of pleading. I don't pretend to know all the answers to life's mysteries. But I can say I know who to turn to in my search.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be honest, true and chaste. I want to be a person of integrity, who is trustworthy and I seek for opportunities to help people around me. I'm not perfect and frequently make mistakes, but I'm ever striving to follow the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I also live my faith by serving in and supporting the youth programs of the church. I try to be the best husband and father I can be and try to make scripture study and prayer a regular part of my routine.
