Hi I'm Shellie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 41 year old mother of 6. That is by far my greatest accomplishment! I enjoyed owning and running my own upholstery business for several years. I finally gave it up when I took one to many staples to the leg! I am also an Interior Decorator by trade. I enjoy working and spending time with my husband of 20 years. I have been greatly blessed in my life with parents and siblings who love and support me in all I do. My parents have taught me well and have given me ALL the tools to succeed in this life. I have been blessed with my mother's creative gifts. I love painting, building, sewing, gardening, designing, and so many other things where I can use my creative abilities. I enjoy being in out in nature--most especially in the mountains. The quite peace I feel in the mountains is hard to describe but makes me feel closer to my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born that way! Well, as that may be true, that is not why I am a Mormon today. I came to a point in my life, not so many years ago, when I wanted to know for myself if all that I had learned throughout my life was real! Were the teachings my parents taught true? I needed to know! I couldn't continue to go through the motions of worship unless I truly believed what I was saying and doing was really what I felt in my heart to be the truth! I prayed....many times! During a very difficult time in my life, I turned to the Lord for help and guidance. Through those prayers, I received the most overwhelming comfort I have ever felt. It's hard to describe a feeling like that, but there was no doubt in my mind that the teachings I had been taught by my parents what dead on truth!!! I knew it then and I know it now. There is no denying that experience.

How I live my faith

I thoroughly enjoy being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. More opportunities for growth have been given to me that I could ever return. I am working with the 16-18 year old girls at church. I teach the lessons on Sunday and participate in activities with them during the week. It is a ton of fun!! They keep me young! I love the way our faith teaches the principle of service. We have had so many memorable activities with the girls. Either going to homeless shelters to play and read to the children or going to safe houses to serve food. We have been able to package for for humanitarian projects world wide. It is great to see a 16 year old girl step outside her own little world and serve those around who have greater needs. I go to church on Sundays with my husband and kids. Whenever I leave the church I always feel lifted and ready to face the world for the rest of the week. With 6 kids the weeks can get pretty crazy and I need to have time to be calm and think about my Savior. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides that for me. Each day as I get on my knees and pray, I know the spirit will guide me through the most simple to the most complex tasks I might face.
