Hi I'm Mike Babbel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my heritage and learning of the faith of my forefathers. They sacrificed much so I can live in peace and be blessed with the bounties of life. They helped to establish America, the great nation I am privileged to call my home. And when I speak of bounties I do not refer to material wealth, because I am not wealthy. Instead, I refer to an amazing wife who loves me and has blessed our lives with 5 incredible children. Our family is beginning to expand as our children are now starting to marry. Our new son-in-law is faithful to God and he loves my daughter. What greater blessing can a father desire for his daughter? I love being in the great outdoors and seeing all of God’s amazing creations. I especially love spending time with my wife and children at home or anywhere. I also love manufacturing and improving the efficiency of companies. I have worked in the aerospace, remote access control and electrical control industries for nearly 30 years and I believe America is still very competitive in manufacturing. I also believe everyone has an obligation to look out for their neighbors and everyday all of us should look for ways that we can bless the lives of family members, neighbors, friends or anyone who needs a hand.

Why I am a Mormon

I’m a mormon because I believe the Mormon church is Jesus Christ’s restored church – the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is Christ’s church because it follows his teachings and commandments and it is led by Christ through latter-day Prophets and Apostles. These Prophets and Apostles receive revelation today just like the Prophets and Apostles of old received revelation. I’m a mormon because not only does the church adhere to the scriptures but also because I can see and feel God’s love for his children through the teachings and ordinances of the church. The power and influence of the Holy Ghost are in the Mormon church. God’s plan for his children is clearly taught by the Mormon church and I can see and feel what God has in store for me when I follow Christ’s commandments in his restored church. I have not seen or felt this anyplace else – only in the Mormon church. I am not saying there are not good things taught and good people in all of the various churches throughout the world. I am saying that the fullness of Christ’s gospel is only found in the Mormon church and it is the power of God to bring salvation and eternal life to all of his children.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day, not just on Sunday or a special holiday. I derive great strength from searching the scriptures every day and calling upon my Father in Heaven every day, to thank him for my many blessings and to seek his intervention in my life and the lives of my family and friends. I believe in serving others. Service to others is possibly the best way to show our devotion to and faith in Jesus Christ. I try to give service evey day to my wife and children but also several times a week to my fellow mormons and to my friends and neighbors. A Nephite prophet in ancient America taught “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service of your God.” (Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2:17) I believe we feel God’s love for us the most when we are serving his children.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Mike Babbel
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the greatest act of love in the universe. Our loving Heavenly Father willingly sacrificed His Only Begotten Son for me so that I could learn from my mistakes and repent and return and live with Him again. My elder brother Jesus Christ willingly took upon Him my sins and all of the rotten things I have done to myself and others. His Atonement becomes effective for me when I believe in Him and keep His commandments. He did this so I can be freed from my guilt and pain and sorrow and become clean. It is the greatest of all God’s blessings because He did it personally for me and every one of His children. Show more Show less
