Hi I'm Pamela

I teach, I love learning and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school history and English teacher. I love learning new things. I enjoy outdoor pursuits like camping and hiking and a host of other things. My interests are so varied that I find it hard to stick at anything but there is one thing that has been constant in my life since I was sixteen, and that is my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel. I believed the church was true. I just didn't know for sure that it wasn't all a nicely told story. I have always tried to be a truthful person and because I felt that I couldn't continue attending church and trying to live the way I was being taught unless I had an actual knowledge for myself that it really was from God, I decided to do whatever it would take to gain that kind of conviction or leave. After several months of reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know if it was true I received a strong spiritual impression that left me with no doubt that God was answering my prayers. The impression came in an instant while I was feeling the Spirit but was preceded by months of study and prayer. It is something that has never quite left me even when I have felt my faith wane, my motivation run dry and my strength fail me. Every time I question if the Lord hears or loves me, I am brought back to that moment when I know he spoke to me in the way a God speaks to one of his precious children, through His Spirit. I know I will never understand all the reasons behind the things my Heavenly father requires of us or allows us to go through. But I have no doubt that he loves us and whatever happens it will be to our benefit in the end. I know this because he kept his promise that if I would knock he would answer and when I truly sought him I indeed found everything I had been searching for and more. I promise that the same is possible for anyone at all who also desires to know truth. It will come in the same way it always has without exception: faith, study and prayer. Our Father in Heaven will hold back nothing from us, but he can not make exceptions. If we ask Him and qualify ourselves for the blessing, it will come!

How I live my faith

Because I feel indebted to the Lord for the testimony he blessed me with, I spent another 18 months abroad as a missionary helping other people learn more about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I've had many opportunities to serve others at church and in the community and I've always grown so much from it. I have worked mostly with children and youth. I think it's vital for our individual growth to have this kind of interaction with other people, especially those we wouldn't normally get to associate with. I think God is very wise in the way He has organised His church. By fully participating in all the programs of the church I have learned a lot about myself and how to love myself and others more perfectly! And this kind of learning and growth is what I believe makes me truly happy!
