Hi I'm Steph

I'm kind of a neuroscience nerd and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Pre-Med student at BYU Currently serving a mission in Montreal Canada. I really love running and swimming or pretty much just playing any sport. I'm kind of a nerd so I really like school. :) My chemistry classes have been my favourites! If I didn't have my priorities straight I would probably spend all my time watching movies because I love them!

Why I am a Mormon

Because the church is TRUE and it makes me HAPPY! I didn't grow up Mormon and was taught by missionaries when I was 17 and it changed my life in a way that I could have never anticipated. It's brought a lot of purpose and understanding into my life and I have been so gratful for it. There is one scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants that kind of sums up why the Gospel makes me so happy. It's D&C 24:8 " Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with the, even unto the end of thy days". I know that this is true. I have found out for myself how much Heavenly father and Christ love us. I am happiest when I am doing all the of the things that I should be doing and when I am faithful. Life get's hard but it's knowing that Christ is right next to me helping me through the tough times that gives me the strength to go forward. Life and every thing we have is a gift. Even the hard things because they make us better. I have found that when we are looking for God's hand in our lives, we will find it. And even the smallest tender mercy during dark times can emit so much light. It's looking for God's hand in my life and finding those tender mercies that makes me so happy. It's something I want for everyone!

How I live my faith

I try to go forth with faith. My friends and I always say "faith it!" to eachother and that's pretty much what I try to do! I think that I am doing that right now by being on a mission. I have the faith that this is what I am supposed to be doing right now and that everything will work out when I get back, with school and work and everything. Being a missionary isn't the easiest thing in the world and it's probably not the hardest but it really pushes me to be better. And not better in a way that will change when I get back from my mission but just a better person...always! I try my best to live what I learn from the scriptures and church leaders and I have seen the difference it has made in my life and the joy that it has brought. I try to apply to my life what i read in my daily scripture study because I know that the things that I am learning are true and will make me happy. In the book of John in the Bible it says "if you love me, keep my commandments" and that's how I live my faith.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

This is a really good question that i asked myself before I joined the church. I think different people recieve the answer to this question in different ways but the way to reieve that answer is always through praying about it. A lot of times it will come through the feelings you might experience while praying about it, you will feel peace or happiness, for me it was that plus super massive butterflies in my stomach! :) These feelings are the Holy Ghost testifying of the truth to you. You can also recieve the answer to this question while reading the Book of Mormon or while attending church or maybe something someone says to you will make it click. Which ever way it is, you will feel really good and happy about what your Heavenly Father is telling you. :) Show more Show less
