Hi I'm Summer

I'm a mom, a homemaker, an avid crafter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to craft, but since my son was born, my hobbies have taken a back seat. Being a mom has turned my focus in other directions like homemaking, cooking, decorating, and of course raising our son. I love being able to nurture and teach our son, and feel so lucky that I can stay home with him to watch him grow.

Why I am a Mormon

No one has said, "you HAVE to be a Mormon, Summer." It's a choice I make every single day. Why? Because I know its true. The Gospel brings my family peace and happiness when we try to follow Jesus Christ; there is less contention in our home and more love and those results are a testimony to me of the truthfulness of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in simple ways everyday. In my daily thoughts, I try to remember Jesus Christ and ask myself if I’m following Him or doing what He would want me to do. Sometimes in the mornings if I wake up before anyone else, I read my scriptures- sometimes the Bible and sometimes the Book of Mormon- and enjoy the peace and quiet while everyone is still sleeping. I love those moments of solitude and reflection as they give me something to contemplate for the rest of the day. Sunday is a special day for our family when we go to church to worship and to learn more about the Savior and His Gospel. At the end of each day and before dinner, my family remembers to thank Heavenly Father for our blessings through prayer.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Summer
The most important reason my family pays 10% tithing is because it's a commandment. By donating a portion of our income, we help the needy members of the community, both in and out of our congregation, as well as building places of worship across the world. Tithing from our church members has also directly contributed to projects across the world like the Africa Water Project, which has brought fresh water and wells into villages in Africa. What is the Relief Society?

Summer
Relief Society is the women's organization of the Church. As part of our Sunday meetings, the Relief Society organization meets to teach one another, uplift and inspire, and deliever relief to those in need. The Relief Society was organized in Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1842 to provide relief to the poor in the city, and assist in the building of the Nauvoo temple. Today, Relief Society is the largest woman's organization in the world and we assist in humanitarian aid all across the world. Show more Show less
