Hi I'm Darla Crum

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a widowed mother of 5 sons and 2 daughters. I have been blessed with 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. I am a volunteer in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I also teach The CTR5 Primary class on Sundays. I enjoy being a Cub Scout Bear Den Leader. I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in April of 1963. I retired from my full time employment in 2002 after being diagnosed with cancer. After surgery and 10 months of chemo. I have been cancer free for 8 years. I attend the local YMCA for water aerobics 3 days a week. I enjoy doing genealogy and Family Search Indexing. I have just rediscovered how much I enjoy canning and gardening. I have felt a great sence of accomplishment these past few months canning pickled beets, tomatoes, carrots and pepper relish from my garden. I also have made jams and bottled meats and beans. I love to hear the "PLINK" of the jars sealing. Thankfully all of my children except one son and his family live within 25 miles of my home and we are able to stay connected as a family. I keep in touch with my distant son and family through phone calls, email IM and face book. Also a yearly visit on my grandsons birthday. I love my family unconditionally and am so very grateful that through the blessings of the temple we can be a forever family. I know that God lives and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

When my husband and I were expecting our first child, we felt that we wanted to have a church going family. My husband was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had not attended for several years, but when I talked to him of God, he knew Him on a more personal level than I did. I knew that he and his family were members, and I wanted to find out more for myself. I loved the feeling that I had when the missionaries were in our home. I learned so much. The missionaries were able to answer the many questions that I had. At first I had a hard time accepting the Joseph Smith story. After reading the Book of Mormon, I knew that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God. My testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has only grown and gotten stronger over the last 49 years that I have been a member. The more that I study and learn the stronger my belief becomes. I could not imagine my life without being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me to be kinder in my dealings with others. To forgive and to love. It has helped me be a much better wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and daughter, than I may have otherwise been. I have learned the joy of service, and unconditional love. I try very hard to live as my Savior and Father in Heaven would want me to. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can be with my Savior, my Father in Heaven and my family eternally. This is my goal, this is what drives me to be the best that I can be. And when I fall short I know that Jesus Christ will make up my shortcomings if I repent and ask for His help.
