Hi I'm Jaclyn

I grew up on a farm in Idaho. I went to BYU, got married, and had six beautiful children. I'm an author, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm with my sisters and brother. I have always loved to write and spent much of my time dreaming of far away places. I met my husband in college and we started a family together. When I was pregnant with our sixth child, we decided to open a bookstore to live one of my dreams. I got to help people find books to read, and it was like Christmas every time I opened another box of books. When we decided to close the store, we were given the opportunity to move to Australia and jumped on it. We met amazing people that we will never forget while we were there and visited every sight we could find. We had several trials while we were there, and after four months of trying to find a home and having health problems, we decided to come home. It was a tough decision to leave the country and its people, but we had other places we needed to be. Because of what I'd learned while I was there, I took the leap to write my first full length novel. I didn't know at the time that it would open the floodgates for story ideas to take off in my brain. I have since published five books and continue to write more. Nothing makes me happier than playing with my children. We love to go swimming, play sports, and travel together. I love to teach them to live their dreams and encourage them to do what they can to make those dreams happen.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I wouldn't want to be anything else. The peace I feel by knowing where I'm from, and that I can be with my family forever, is the best feeling the world. I feel the power of prayer. I know that my prayers have been answered countless times and I can see the Lord's hand in my life every day. I want to share the joy I have with those around me.

How I live my faith

I love to serve in my church. My favorite calling has been a teacher for the women in my ward because I love to share the gospel with those around me. In 2012, I jokingly said that I was bored on Facebook and my sister warned me that I was going to be in trouble. That night I was called as a leader for the women's organization. I couldn't help but laugh when I was called because I knew I wouldn't be bored for a very long time. I loved the feeling of being inspired when I needed to find a person for a calling, or the right visiting teachers for other people. I was very sad when it came time to be released. Now, in my new ward, my husband and I are on a service committee where we have the opportunity to find ways to serve those around us. It has allowed me to see ways to help others that I wouldn't have noticed before. That is why we are here. We're here to serve those around us. While we were in Australia, we had people serving us all the time and now we have that opportunity to turn around do it for someone else.
