Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mormon, husband, father, mainframe computer consultant and pilot. I have three children ages 42, 28 and 26. I got my private license in 1971 and my instrument rating in 1975. My wife and I have flown all across this country in a Cessna 210. Unfortunately I had to make a choice: fly or tithe. I chose to tithe. Being a member of the Lord's church is worth the sacrifice. As a result my wife and I are truly blessed. We are also blessed to serve in the Seattle Temple on Saturday evenings.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I were married in a Lutheran church. When the minister said "...until death do you part" I had the immediate thought that there must be some way we can make this last forever. I later learned that my wife had the same feeling. Three years later we met the missionaries and invited them into our home. We were curious mainly because of the Donnie and Marie Show. Then they taught us about eternal marriage. We joined the church in May of 1979. A year later we were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple for time and all eternity. This truly is the Lord's church.

How I live my faith

Firstly and above all I am a Home Teacher. It is through home teaching that we look out for each other. And I need to do a better job at it. At times "Home Teacher" is a misnomer as some of those I home teach know a lot more about the gospel than I do. I have two callings. I am the Physical Facilities Representative for our building. What this means is that I am the one people complain to when there is a problem with the building, or when something related to the building is needed. I also coordinate the cleaning of the building. My other calling is as an Ordinance worker in the Seattle Temple. This is so neat that words fail me. It is a sacrifice as my wife and I both work full time and Saturday is the only day we have to get anything accomplished around the home, and we only have half a day as we have to be at the Temple by 3:00. But it is definitely worth it.
