Hi I'm David

I am a real estate developer and civil engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, a father of 6, and a grandpa. I have interests in bike riding, camping and buildings such as office buildings, hotels, and shopping centers. In my career, I have been a civil engineer, a general contractor, and a real estate developer. I enjoy building and improving my community by developing projects that are attractive, sustainable, and in harmony with the natural environment that God has created. I like to develop residential communities, office buildings, hotels, retail stores, medical buildings and warehouses that meet the needs of the people in the community, provide numerous employment opportunities, and enrich peoples lives. I also like working with the Boy Scouts of America and have served in many positions as a scout leader and as an adviser to BSA youth leaders.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because as a young man of about 21 years old, I read the Book of Mormon and felt a powerful witness from the Holy Ghost that it was true. I also invited the missionaries to teach me more about the church and they taught me the principles of the gospel, the plan of salvation, and many things that helped me better understand the mission and role of Jesus Christ as our mediator with the Father and as our Savior. I visited their meetings and found the members to be honest and sincere, and striving to live the gospel. Most importantly, I prayed to God to know if the Church was true and received a personal witness by the power of the Holy Ghost that it was indeed true. As a result of those experiences, I decided to join the Church by being baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. That decision has turned out to be one of the best and most important decisions of my life. Over the many years since then, I have come to know more fully that Jesus is my Savior and that being an active member of His church is our Heavenly Father's plan for me to be able to return to Him with my family and loved ones. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of our church and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet that receives modern revelation from the Lord in our day. I also know that the apostles of the church, and the local leaders are also inspired and called of God and I know they have helped me to become a better person. When I follow the commandments and teachings of the Savior and these leaders, I am most happy.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day by loving my wife and my children and by trying to see them as Christ sees them. Daily family prayer and scripture study helps us bring the Spirit into our home and peace into our lives despite the challenges of the world outside our home. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church in such responsibilities as a teacher, youth adviser, boy scout leader, buildings and grounds representative, missionary, and counselor. All of these experiences have been a blessing to me and my family and have helped me grow closer to the Lord and to those whom I have served. Because of my experience in building development and construction, I have also had the privilege of participating in the land acquisition and development of two new meetinghouses in our area. I have seen the hand of the Lord in this work and I know that these buildings will bless the lives of many people in our community for years to come. I also live my faith by doing my best to follow the commandments that Christ has given us through the scriptures, the ancient and modern prophets, and the apostles. When I fall short, I can repent and turn to the Savior and find forgiveness. I have learned that Christ can heal me not only from sin, but also from sorrow, illness, pain, suffering, injustice, or loneliness, by the power of His great and infinite atonement. This power has brought me great peace and comfort throughout my life.
