Hi I'm Blake

I'm a Mormon. I learned the Church was true after many nights of heartfelt prayer.

About Me

I'm a nerd at heart. I study history and politics for fun, read sci-fi, shoot guns, and I love visiting museums, national parks, and historical sites.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon household, and for many years took the Church's truth for granted. My youthful teen rebellion saw my personal views drifting from some of the counsels of the Church, and shortly after high school I realized that I needed to make a decision which direction I was going to go. Either the Church was true and I should follow both it's doctrines and suggestions, or it wasn't and I needed to chart my own course. I started reading the Book of Mormon everyday, praying morning and night to know if it was true. It took six months of not what I thought was not getting answers before one came that I couldn't ignore: that I'd be getting answers all along. I looked back on those six months and saw blessing upon blessing, sign upon sign, answer upon answer. I saw changes and miracles, a change of thought, attitude, and hopes. I'd been looking for the last chapter, while ignoring the story being told all around me. I knew that it was true.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by serving by serving in the Church. I've been asked to lead Boy Scouts, teach classes, provide hurricane relief, work in food banks, and sometimes simple things like setting up chairs. I know that those who are asking me are called of God, and I am happy to do my part to see the work go forward.
