Hi I'm Wendilynn

I'm a single mother of three kids. I'm a mobile DJ, I'm a cancer survivor, I sing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of three children. My kids range from 21 to 8 years of age. I've worked as a mobile DJ doing weddings, parties and dances for the last 14 years. I love most types of music, its hard to keep my feet still when a good beat is on. I sing alto in the Portland Ensign Choir. I enjoy hiking, Blues dancing and getting dirty with my kids. I enjoy reading, particularly fanstasy/scifi genre books and I love movies , fantasy action being my favorite. I am divorced and while that brings its own challenges its also helped me grow closer to the Lord. I have survived a brush with mouth cancer and am going on three years cancer free.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church and my dad who was a contract computer programmer moved us around a lot. It was always facinating to me that no matter where we went, the church was the same. When I grew up I married a man who was not a member of the church. While he supported me and the children in our membership, he also challenged me to not just accept the gospel, but to know it for myself. This started an amazing period of study for me. I was invited by several neighbors to join their bible study groups. This gave me the chance to study the different interpretations of the bible and to really see what was in there. I had to almost look at the book verse by verse because my friends would challenge my understanding while studying their own. It was amazing to see what information the Bible contained. I realized as I studied that Joseph Smith really helped us to understand the bible better. With the support of the Book of Mormon, the bible is able to be understood and not be the confused collection of various books that It sometimes looks like its contradicting itself to others. I was able to gain a testimony of Joseph Smith as a prophet of God from my study of the Bible and with that I gained a knowledge of how much our Heavenly Father loves each of us as his children.

How I live my faith

Being divorced in this church can seem hard because we have such a strong emphasis on eternal families but I can tell you that the Lord is there supporting those of us who have not yet been sealed in the Temple. Serving my fellow brothers and sisters in our singles program and in my ward helps me to forget my own loneliness and to concentrate on better things. I take part in Choir and help plan activities in my singles group. One of the nice things about my faith is that its not something that you can just do on Sunday's and forget about the rest of the week. Its something that must be lived everyday.
