Hi I'm Phil

I grew up in southern Cali. I'm love to travel. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to travel and learn about other cultures. I have been all over the United States and to the Philippines three times. I really don't know what I want to be in life yet as far as career wise. I've bounced around from being a cop to being a big time screen writer. I do know that I want to be a the best dad I can be that is one of many things that my membership in the church has taught me about, the importance of family.

Why I am a Mormon

I actually had the opportunity of being baptized on the same day as my mom was. My dad baptized us and it was a wonderful experience. I had never really grown up with the church, but the missionaries started coming over when I was around 9 and got my dad active in the church again and converted my mom and I. Soon later though we stopped going to church. When I was in high school one of my Spanish teachers found out I was Mormon and invited me to go back. I decided to go back to church and see if I it was something I wanted to do. Going back felt really weird and the kids were different than me, but it was a good different. I noticed something in them that none of the kids at school had. It was the charity or the pure love of Christ. They genuinely cared about me and soon we became closest of friends. I went to church regularly, went to a church school, and prepared to go on a mission. As I was leaving for my mission my parents promised me they would start going to church as well and do everything they needed to do to go to the temple. While on my mission my parents kept their promises and we were able to go to the temple to be sealed together for time and eternity. That means that we can be together forever as a family. I love this church and I love the blessings that come to me from my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example. I always try my best to follow Jesus Christ my Savior. Though I fall short many times I know that I can always can always repent and improve because of what he did for me. I am a missionary for the church right now and I love it because I can share this message with everyone.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Being self reliant and prepared are some of the essential attributes we need to develop in life. They strengthen our own self respect and help us serve others who are in need just as Christ would have us do. Becoming more self reliant has really shown me the value of hard work and its positive influence it has had on my life and others. Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

We believe that Jesus Christ had established His Church when He lived on the earth. He gave His Apostles authority to preach and baptize in the manner he directed. After He died this authority stayed with the Apostles and within the Church. After the deaths of the Apostles however many began to change the pure teachings of Christ. With this came the dissolution of the Church on the earth. Many years later God again reached out in love to His children and called another prophet to restore the truth that was lost. This Prophet's name was Joseph Smith. With this authority now restored there is a Prophet and Apostles on the earth today receiving revelation and direction straight from God and Jesus Christ. The Church has been brought back. Show more Show less
