Hi I'm Audra

I'm a life long Arizonan. I love education, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a lifelong Arizonan married to a fantastic man. I'm trying to be the kind of mother it takes to raise happy, successful, and spiritually grounded children in this day and age. My husband and I have been married for almost 11 years. We started out young but both still managed to get our educations and hope to instill a love of learning in our kids as well. I love spending time with family, camping, playing racquetball and badminton.

Why I am a Mormon

There comes a time in everyone's life that they have to ask themselves if they truly believe what their parents have taught them. My time came when I was 15 years old. I hadn't really cared about my faith much until that point and was struggling with the regular teenage struggles of poor self esteem/self worth. I was miserable. I struggled with depression and cried myself to sleep often. It was the fall of my Freshman year that I decided that it was time for me to know if the Book of Mormon was true or not. For the first time in my life, I started reading the scriptures on my own. The spirit of the Book of Mormon touched me from the the first few chapters. I was hooked and often read close to 30 pages a night. I ended up reading the Book of Mormon about 4 times during my Freshman year. During that time, my life and my own spirit changed in ways I didn't anticipate. Without even trying, I had no desire to use the crude and offensive language I had often used around my friends. I didn't cry myself to sleep anymore and felt more motivation than ever to choose the right and be a better person and Christian. I wanted to make more friends by being kind rather than being a gossip. I felt loved by my Savior and wanted to stay close to him. My life was forever changed that year. I went on to read the Old and New Testaments as well, which further cemented my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ, His Atonement and Resurrection, and my desire to live with him once again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in whatever capacity the Lord asks of me, at church and home. I try to remind myself often how innocent and impressionable my children are and that it is my responsibility to build them up, teach them about the love that our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ has for them, and prepare them to make right choices in the face of temptations when they are older. I talk with them often about the Holy Ghost and how we can live to try to have the Spirit with us each day. We strive for regular Family Home Evenings, though we aren't perfect at it..., family prayer and scripture study.
