Hi I'm Genesee Cheval

I live in Colorado and grew up in Southern California. I work as an Escrow Closer and have a 7 year old son. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a single mom that tries to balance working full time, going to school full time, my sons homework from school and him still being able to play sports. My hobbies are reading a good book, occasional crafting, and making memories with my son. I'm going back to school to get my education degree to eventually become an elementary teacher and for the long term a professor.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and felt the stiring in my heart at a young age. I learned to pray and create my own relationship with Heavenly Father through church and family activities. At one time in my early 20's I remember thinking "what if" it's not true. I thought about it and realized that I knew in my heart it was true and there are no "what if's" for me. My father once told me to think about what if it was not true. What a great way we are still living. I have never felt that I missed out on anything and have watched a lot of heartache come from drinking, drugs and being immoral. There is nothing more beautiful to me than to be worthy of entering the temple of our Heavenly Father and feeling the spirit. The gospel just makes sense to me. Heavenly Fathers loves us and that is why we have a living prophet today. Of course he would not leave us with no direction. We get to go to church weekly to surround ourselves with those that can help strengthen us. I love visiting teaching to create even more friendships. The plan to have visiting and home teaching is so awesome. It reminds me of how Heavnly Father wants to make sure all of his children are cared for and have friends to lean on when they need. The youth programs are amazing as well. I am constantly reminded of how much I love this gospel and how it is the true church of Jesus Christ. I've never needed a lightening bolt moment to know it's true. I've felt the spirit so strongly in my life at times that I know that I am a Child of God and he knows me and loves me.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings on Sundays and take my son with me. He loves going to primary and having his own friends at church. I get to help with the Faith in God activities for girls ages 8-11 that are preparing for young womanhood. We meet 2 times a month and have fun activities. This helps strenghen their friendships with eachother which is so important for youth to have good friends. We work on activities like service and growing our talents. It's so fun to come up with crafting ideas for them and teaching them how to do new things. Doing service activities always invites the spirit and helps all of us grow. I love to be involved and help strengthen these kids. I've helped in primary for years and love the children. At home wtih my son we have a family home evening weekly that we talk about a gospel principal and I try to help him understand it more and we usually play a game. This creates just fun family time. I try to make my home a sanctuary from the outside world. We read our scriptures everynight and pray together as a family morning and night. I am trying to teach my son that he can always pray even just in his heart weather he is at school or home.
