Hi I'm Barb

I'm a Mormon. I was born in Victoria and now live in Queensland and I'm a Grandma

About Me

I'm a Mother of 6 and a grandmother to 15. I'm a workplace trainer and teach Certificate courses to over 90 Trainees. I love learning and have just completed a Diploma in Management at age 58!!!! I am rearing a grandchild and enjoy playing games on my iphone with him. I'm a night owl who very rarely goes to bed before midnight and that gives me extra time in my day to pursue learning and broadening my mind. I love my life and find joy in helping my children and grandchildren in a variety of ways.

Why I am a Mormon

I had been reared as a Catholic but my brother went to work for a person of another religion and came home and questioned our Catholic faith to my mother. She agreed that she had become disillusioned with the changes in the Catholic church and decided to leave that church and start looking for the truth. For many years she investigated other religions and then b chance a neighbour came to our house one evening when our mother had us sitting around the table talking about religion. This lady was able to answer many of my mothers questions and we investigated the church and found truth. I was only 15 and didn't want to go to church but the missionary couple who taught us showed an interest in me and I decided to go along. Before agreeing to be baptised I prayed for myself and "felt" good about the decision. I have always been active in this Church and it has given me direction and purpose in my life and has brought me continual joy as I have raised my children in the Church. My father died 3 months before I was born and I was raised in a single parent home, the youngest of 6 children - then my husband died when I also had 6 children and I repeated the same pattern - but being in the Church and having a Church family to support me made the experience of rearing my children a lot easier than that of my mother.

How I live my faith

I love my activity in the Church and my position as Blue Card co-ordinator wherein I ensure that the members of our Ward have suitability cards for teaching young children. I also hold the position as Secretary to our Stake Public affairs committee and find that position challenging and rewarding.
