Hi I'm Tyson

I'm a husband, father, lawyer, college football fanatic, and Xbox champion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town with six brothers and sisters. Football, basketball, baseball, and snowboarding occupied most of my time up through high school, as did tinkering with my treasured muscle car - a 1989 Nissan Sentra. I served a two year church mission in Kenya, and loved every minute of it. Learning about other cultures and meeting people from all over Africa has helped define who I am. Between farming with local villagers in the middle of the rainy season to meeting with fellow Mormons on the busy streets of Nairobi, I'll never forget my time in the country I once called home. I studied international politics before law school, and love following current events. My wife and I have been married for seven years, and have two lovely, energetic daughters who are obsessed with all things Rapunzel. These days I spend my spare time following my favorite college football teams, playing Xbox games with my brothers, and walking around my backyard muttering about how the only thing I seem to be able to grow is moss.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because living these principles has brought me lasting happiness and peace. None of us are perfect, and though I was raised in a loving home by good parents, I made (and still make) some bone-headed choices. But as I stumble along, I consistently recognize that my happiest times have occurred while living a clean life, serving others, and connecting spiritually with my Heavenly Father. I am continually reminded, sometimes through experiences I consider sacred, that He knows me personally, and wants to bless me as I trust in Him. Through this gospel I have come to know that I am a child of God, that I lived with Him before this life, and that I can return to live with Him if I follow the example of Jesus Christ. I know that I can be forgiven of sins, and that I can be with my family forever. I know that I can turn to Him and find strength in times of trial, because I've done it. Lasting happiness and peace. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by serving others. Through professional associations I serve underprivileged individuals who lack access to the legal system. I volunteer with a neighborhood boy scout troop. I serve as a records clerk at my local church meetinghouse. I also visit with other community members and discuss inspirational events and messages with them.
