Hi I'm Steve W Johnson

I grew up in Idaho on a farm next to the the Snake river and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I enjoy fishing in the mountains on small streams. It is peaceful and comforting. More than anything I enjoy doing it with my children. I am a father of 4 children, 1 girl and 3 boys. Being a Dad has been my greatest blessing. Sports is something else I enjoy doing and watching. Softball is alot of fun, just about any sport is enjoyable.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up around people who lived the gospel and I could see how it blessed there lives and it drawed me to them. I liked being around them. My family was active when I was little but when I was teenager my parents were often working and working out of town away from home and so we did not go to church very much. The Gospel always meant something to my mother. When i was 18 I was working in Yellowstone Park and one weekend I was coming home and I passed a hitch hiker out in the middle of the mountains and I just went flying by because of the danger that I was aware of picking them up. I kept going and I felt like I needed to pick this guy up. I said no way and kept going and then I felt it several more times that I needed to pick him up. So i turned around and hurried back hoping he was still there. He was, I picked him up and we visited. He did not ride with me very far. Because of the conversation we had it got me thinking about my life and all the things the Lord had blessed me with and was blessing me. I thought you know I think I'll go to church. I went to Church and was sitting about 4 or 5 rows from the front. Just sitting there thinking this feels right, yep this feels right. This is where I should be. I said that about 3 or 4 times to myself then a beautiful warm feeling just gently poured over me and tears came to my eyes and I knew then and still know to this day that is where I should be.

How I live my faith

I like to do some things for my community. I try to be a good neighbor by putting there garbage out or helping by doing some of there yard work. I am a cub scout leader. I was a cub master for around 10 years. It was fun putting on the Pack meetings and being wild and crazy for the 8 to 10 year old cub scouts and watching them laugh and enjoy the event. It was really good to see how scouting was teaching these young boys great things to be good neighbors and great citizens of the country. I also have a calling as a hometeacher and have seen where stopping by every month or more and checking with the families I am assigned to see and have them open up when they really know you care and that has provided an opportunity for me to help them by doing something around there home or maybe there testimony was getting a little weak and I was able to give them a boost. They knew I really did care. It is great to see them because in lifting them I was in turn lifted by them and the Lord.

Are Mormons Christians?
