Hi I'm Scot

I'm a Mormon. I'm a husband and a father to 3 wonderful children. I grew up in Colorado. Served a mission in Cleveland, Ohio.

About Me

I'm a person that loves being active doing something all of the time. I grew up in a family that enjoyed the great outdoors of Colorado. We camped, hiked and started riding motorcycles when I was in Jr High School. I still ride motorcycles and today enjoy riding them with my kids. I enjoy playing all sports from Basketball to Football so you will find me on the basketball floor most mornings before I go to work. I am married and have 3 kids that I adore. As a family we have enjoyed doing many things and one of those is boating. As a family we have gone to Lake Powell Utah every year for the last 17 years enjoying all that Lake Powell offers including waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and exploring the canyons on the Lake. I love Colorado and all that it offers that is why I have never left the place of my birth. I love to laugh and enjoy life to its fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Mormon church all of my life. My father converted to the mormon church when he was 19 and when he married my mom she converted so I was raised a Mormon. I grew up in the youth program of the church which brought great stability and gave me the direction that I needed as a kid. I always talked about serving a mission for the church so when I turned 19 years of age I served a mission in Cleveland, Ohio for 2 years. it was at that time serving my mission that I gained a testimony that those things that I had grown up learning were true. I came to know that the Mormon Church is true by reading the Book of Mormon and kneeling in prayer to find out for myself. I felt I was out teaching others about the church so I knew I couldn't continue telling others that it was true if I wasn't sure myself. When I knelt down asking if the things I have known and had read were true, I had a feeling come over me that I hadn't experienced before. It was at that time that I realized it was Heavenly Father giving me confirmation that these things are true. It has been my guiding light all of my life. It is always comforting to me to know that we have a prophet on the earth today that gives us guidance and direction today just as the prophets of old did. The Mormon church is more of a religion - it is a way of life. It helps you make decisions in life. You learn to trust in God and lean on him when things get hard. I know that the things that are taught in the Mormon Church are true. The great thing is -- anyone can learn and feel the same things that I have. Heavenly Father loves all of his children so he wants all of them to know that these things are true. it is indeed the Lord's church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I have provided service for the church for many years in many different positions. I am currently a counselor in the Bishopric helping facilitate all of the programs in the church. it is a very rewarding calling helping the members of the ward. For most of my time serving in the church I have served with the youth. I have been the Young Men's leader which helps direct kids from age 12-19 during the tough teenage years. For a couple years I taught early morning seminary to the 17-18 year old kids. I taught them about the Book of Mormon for a year and the next year I taught about church history. I have always loved working with the youth of the church because they keep you feeling young and it is my way of giving back because of the great times I had as a youth in the church. I have come to realize that Christ was all about serving others so I believe my way of giving back is serving him any way I can. I provide that service through fullfilling callings in the church like the ones I have discribed above.
