Hi I'm Gail Lundell

I'm wife, mother of 6, get to be "another mother" to 6+ others. I love writing poems & books; I love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was 10 when I decided that some day I wanted to be able to help any child who needed a home. Of course, I dreamed big and wanted to have homes and ranches all over the world, but Heavenly Father often helps us fulfill our dreams in ways that we don't see and understand until we are much older. As I am getting within a year of 70, I can see how He allowed me to help many children of various ages in many places where we lived. What a blessing! I learned that the more love you give, the more love you get. Each of those children of whatever age, religion, or ethincity, taught me a better way to share, to live and to love. Of course, I have things I like to do: swimming, sewing, embroidering, writing poetry, plays, musicals, singing, playing classical music on the piano, writing historical novels (clean ones) in different genres such as Napoleanic wars, US Civil War, Time Travel/Sci-Fantasy, Women in the Scritures....you name it and I'll write it...except modern day crime with sex scenes....that I won't write. And since that is what the literary agents want, I put my books on a web site instead.

Why I am a Mormon

My Dad joined the church at 15 after hearing a neighbor sing "O My Father". He finished high school at 16, married my mother at 17, joined the army and fought in WWII. Mom joined while he was gone. She said the spirit woke her up one day and said, "You need to be baptized." So she was. I was blessed to meet the most incredible man whose family had taught him that you always "keep on keepin' on" and that duty came first. Every time that my husband was called to a position in the church that would take a bit of time, the Holy ghost would tell me 2 wks. ahead of time and ask me if I would support him. I would say yes. I told time by what baby I was p. g. with : Baby1=elders Q. pres., Baby 2 = counselor in Bishopric, Baby 3 = High Council and after baby I was Primary Pres., baby 4 = Bishop, baby 5 = counselor in Stake Pres., baby 6 = founding Pres. of new Stake. I quit having babies. The doctors had told not to have any more after the 3rd one put her elbow in my right ureter and collapsed it and nearly killed us both. But we were in a place where the urologist was who invented a method to save us. He said I could have one more so I did. That gave us 2 boys and 2 girls. I checked with H. F. to be sure that was enough and He sent 2 extra boys to Family Prayer that night. So through much difficulty, I had 2 more boys. They were worth it. I have learned to listen to the Holy Ghost and He has become more than just a comforter; He has become a friend. Interesting to me is His sense of humor, His great patience, but then He has had eons of time to practice on us weak mortals. I am so thankful for the gospel and all the knowledge we have because of it, all the comfort it gives us especially in this day and age, all of the joy we can feel, but most of all, the hope, no the certainty that there is a God who loves us, knows us and watches over each one of us.

How I live my faith

Geneology is my great love. Oh dear, I just realized I forgot to put it in my hobbies and interests. Well, it isn't really either one, it is more of an obsession and a duty all rolled into one. And further than that, I am a Family History Consultant so I teach a class every Sunday where we not only talk about what to do, but we also do it. We have a workshop because we have a wireless connection to the internet so we can, not just tell people how to do it, but we actually have them do the work themselves. I absolutely will not fish for anyone, but I will teach anyone to fish. My husband and I will go to anyone's home at any time, (we even have a Family Home evening lesson for little kids), or we will help anyone at the stake Family History Center when we are there taking a shift. We'll help the young people, the young adults, the old people (since we are one), and the spanish speakers (hablo espanol, pero mi espanol es muy limitado. Por favor, pardoname algunas palabras incorrectas . Mis hijos hablan espanol muy bien porque cada servie un mission en Espana, Mexico, Venezuela, Y Panama). I am also a visiting teacher, but I consider that a chance to make new friends. The more love you give, the more you receive. I carry Books of Mormon (not Book of Mormons) in my car and pass along cards and whenever or whereever and to whomever the spirit tells me, I give one. The Spirit is the coolest friend anyone could ever have. Just the other day He told us to fly somewhere to see one of our sons rather than drive. After we got home, I was driving on the freeway when a rear tire blew. That would have been very bad on a long trip and could even have been deadly. Another time when I wasn't listening, he used our dog to save my life. I like how he gives us impressions, feelings, thoughts, and sometimes even speaks to us. If that doesn't tell us that Heavenly Father is real and loves us, I don't know what would.
