Hi I'm Kelly

I am a stay at home mother of 5 and a grandmother of 3 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 26 years, we have 4 boys and 1 daughter. We adopted our last child from Russia on the Eastern coast 7 years ago just before his 8th birthday. I had ovarian cancer when I was 29 and pregnant with my 4th child making it impossible to have any other children. We thought our family was complete but when I turned 40 our 4th son came to us from an orphanage on the east coast of Russia and through amazing inspiration from the Lord and being in the right place at the right time we were given our 5th child to us in a way we never dreamed of. He even looks like us in coloring and similar traits. It has not been an easy road for any of us but it has been an amazing experience for our family to grow with this new son. It's an awesome thing to watch a child experience Christmas or ride a bike for the first time at the age of 8. I also love being a grammy! Our first 2 children have been married in the temple and they each had their first child 5 days apart. It was a busy time for me as my daughter had her first daughter and our oldest son had his first son. They now are expecting their 2nd child. I get to watch both my grandchildren 2 days a week together, it's like having twins. I also belong to a quilting group, a book group and have been going to the same religion class for 14 years. I love spending time with my family 3 boys that are still living at home, one who just returned from a mission and the other getting ready for one.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church with both my parents having grown up members, but they came from only partially active families so I feel lucky to have both active while growing up. My parents did divorce when I was 10, but my mom remained strong in the gospel and was a great example of staying strong through adversity and working hard to provide for my brother and I. I didn't have the easiest childhood but through my moms example grew strong and found the right man to marry. We married in the AZ Mesa Temple and have been blessed with 26 amazing years. We've had many trials in our life together; financial, health of myself and our children. Through it all we have seen many miracles in our life and know that the Lord has blessed our lives in more ways than we could count. Our children are all active in the church and we've had 2 sons go on missions and have our 3rd son getting ready. It is very hard for a mom to send out a child on a mission knowing that won't see them for 2 years, only talking to them 4 times on the phone while they are gone. But to witness their growth through their words in weekly letters going from boy to man is an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. I often think its similar to our Heavnely Father letting us go and coming down here to earth to experience life here. We can talk to him in prayer but wont see him until we return to him after we die. It's a great trail of faith on his part to let us go and see if we return to him again. It's also a big responsiblity for us who know the truth to share it with those who don't remember before we came. I know that this is God's church, organized the way he organized it with Adam and Eve, and set in place with Jesus when he walked the earth. I know that Jesus is our Savior and it is through him we can be forgiven and return without sin. I truly feel blessed to have this knowledge and be sealed in the temple to live with my family forever and not just to death do we part. In Jesus name Amen

How I live my faith

I enjoy being invovled in my community. While my children were in K-8th grades I was always a room mom and involved in the PTO. I was also the team mom or coach of a team when I could be and enjoyed organizing schedules and snacks for the kids. At the high school level I started a booster club for my sons cross country team/track and ran it for the last 10 years while all 3 sons ran. As the kids grew I became aware of politics and have stayed current on issues in our community and state and have tried to keep those around me current on those issues and have helped out at the polls on election days. I have 4 boys who have their eagles in scouting and feel that I've helped them through it all. I served 10 years in cubscouting and have been awarded a ten year service plaque at the district level. I served as committee chairman in United Familes Organization and help with propsiton 208 keeping marriage between a man and women clear and precise in law. I am currently serving on the committee for Constitution Week USA, which is the largest celebration of the Constitution in America. I truly believe in it's words and the forefathers who wrote it. I have served in my church working with the young kids from 18 months- 18yrs in teaching them and holding meetings during the week for many years and I have worked side by side teaching them leadership skills that they will use as adults. I watch my 2 grandkids twice a week so their parents can work without having to pay a sitter this is also a reward for me. I enjoy giving service to other who are around me either of my faith or not it does not matter. I especially like to give quitely. Others have been there for me or my family and I truly believe in helping with meals, cleaning or boxing up things when needed. Being there when someone in need is truly a great blessing for me. I also enjoy sharing whatever I have with others whether it be my home, car or cabin if others are happy so am I.
