Hi I'm Amanda

I am a mother of two, I am a ceramist, a skier, an Occupational Therapy Assistant and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two beautiful children. I have a wonderful husband who still takes me on dates a couple times a month. I have worked in Occupational therapy but I recently decided to stay home with my children. I plan on returning to my profession part time when the time is right. I love to ski but haven't been able to go for many years, even though I live in CO. I also have a passion for pottery and love to work on a potters wheel, or mold delicate flowers onto a pot. I also love to read and I like to find out about good books to read.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are active in the Mormon Church so I grew up as a Mormon. When I was a teenager my parents encouraged us to find out for ourselves what we believed. I read the Book of Mormon when I was 16 years old and found it not only to be very touching and life changing but also to be a beacon in my life. It was at that time I started to realize how happy being a Mormon made me feel, this religion is so fulfilling in so many ways. I started to build a relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ and with my Heavenly Father. I know that I am his daughter and that makes a large impact on my day to day life. It brings me happiness and joy beyond anything else. The Mormon Church has so much depth; there are so many questions that have an answer. Being a Mormon is so much a part of my identity and everyday life I can not separate it from the other parts of me.

How I live my faith

On a Dailey basis we say a prayer of gratitude over each meal, then we read scriptures at night before bed (the bible or the book of Mormon), then we say family prayer with our children. We are currently teaching our 3 year old son that if he feels scared he can say a prayer and Heavenly Father will help him feel safe. We also have a family night one time a week to teach our children about Jesus and how we can try to live our lives the way he did. My husband and I have done many jobs in our church from working with children, to teenagers, to teaching classes to the adults on Sundays. Once a month I go visit a couple of women to make sure church can help meet any needs. I also try to attend the Mormon temple once a month if not more because it is a place of comfort and peace and helps me to feel closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus.
