Hi I'm Brian L.

I'm a Mormon, a husband of 40 years, a father of nine, a former green beret, and a lawyer.

About Me

Four major events have shaped my life: 1. A two year mission for the LDS Church during which I came to realize that Jesus Christ is my Savior. 2. A five year stint in the Army during which I learned that lives depend on performing one's duty - no excuses. 3. A thirty year career as a lawyer during which I learned the value of critical analysis. 4. A forty year stretch as a husband and father during which I've learned that the greatest happiness as well as the greatest challenges are found in our family relationships, which thankfully, are eternal, not just "till death do ye part".

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it works. As a trained skeptic (lawyer) I tend to take a very practical approach to life -- if it works, i.e., leads to happiness and success, I'm intrerested, if not, I don't want to waste my time. I have studied and applied the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the LDS Church and it works -- it does in fact provide a framework within which to achieve happiness and success in this life.

How I live my faith

I live my religion by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ, i.e., I try to be a disciple. I'm certainly not perfect in that effort, but I try to apply his teachings in my life in practical ways by serving in the church and in my community. The greatest joy I've found is in "ministering" to others -- just trying to reassure them that they are of intrinsic worth, and while life is challenging, they can make it through and find geniune contentment.
