Hi I'm Krista

I am a social worker, a mom and wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of an adorable child and am expecting another one soon. I am married to a wonderful man who I respect and admire in every way. One of my favorite things in life is my relationship with him. I feel like one of my gifts is being able to communicate with others and connect with others. I got a Masters Degree in Social Work and worked for a few years prior to having our child. I worked as a caseworker for teenagers in foster care, spent time mentoring impoverished teens from the inner-city, and I worked with teen-age girls from around the country with schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. I loved my opportunities to work with them and with their families. I was able to learn and grown and love them. It helped me realize what I want to provide in my own home for my children and my husband. I don't work in the field currently as a professional, but I work to find opportunities to serve and love those around me and use the education and natural gifts I have been given. I love the outdoors. My husband and I try to get out often and enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking, and rock climbing. We now get to bring our daughter along with us and it has changed the intensity of our adventures. We see the love for outdoors developing in her and find that to be rewarding. We love to run together and enjoy eating healthy. I love doing art and creating, my home is my canvas and I enjoy expressing myself in it.

Why I am a Mormon

Knowing who I am and why I am here is invaluable to me. Each day I live knowing I have a purpose and I know that the Savior needs me to be a true disciple and love as He loves. I can't say I am perfect in doing that, I will say I am striving to be better. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me live my life with standards that give me freedoms to experience the fullest amount of happiness I can. Often others see those standards as a means of taking away freedom, I see them as a means of providing me with protection to avoid doing and becoming in ways that go against who I really am. I am keenly aware of my spirit I know my strengths, my weaknesses, and I know that I can turn to the Savior to help me grow further in all ways. I know why I am working to grow and why I ask the Savior to enable and redeem me. I know I am working to go back to His presence and live eternally with my family. I know that by being baptized and making covenants I am bringing my will closer to His will. I know that the temple is a place He has provided me to make essential covenants and to find peace and direction from the Holy Ghost. I know that the Prophet provides me with counsel and direction that come directly from my Heavenly Father and I see when I obey and follow the counsel I am able to find safety and when I do not that I have put myself in harms way or that I experience unhappiness. Being a member of this Church provides me with countless opportunities to look within and assess what I can do to be more like Christ. Those opportunities come from learning from the experiences of others in the scriptures, listening to my current leaders in the church, and understanding the relationship I can have with my Father in Heaven, the Savior, and the Holy Ghost in gaining personal direction. I love being a member of the church because it provides me with doctrine, standards, and opportunities for learning that bring me joy and I know they are leading me back to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I work to live my beliefs through how I live and the example I put before others. I live my beliefs by trying to seek out those in need and being aware of others who have less than I do. I work to listen to the Holy Ghost and follow promptings that come in relation to who needs my help and what I can do to bless them and then I act. I try hard to live simply, naturally I am tempted to focus on superficial things but I try and remind myself often of what matters most and what brings true happiness. I spend time building relationships within my family because I know they are of eternal consequence. I currently serve working with the children in the church. Every Sunday I prepare a lesson and teach it. I love teaching them from the scriptures and love helping them understand how they relate to our lives today. I work to live my faith by remembering that I have taken the name of Jesus Christ upon myself and I am a representative of Him. I try to have all I do be a reflection of that. Although I know that I have much to learn, improve, and change I know that I have guidance from the Holy Ghost and the opportunity to kneel and pray and receive direction that will guide me in becoming more like Jesus Christ.
