Hi I'm Bill

I have all the marbles I won in the 2nd grade. I lived in Brazil for 18 months. I am the father of 6 and a husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New Mexico. I was the 2nd of 8 children. I served a 2 year mission for my church in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I received my BA in Utah. I work for Target as a District Facilities Manager. I married my best friend and together we have 6 beautiful children. I enjoy most sports. I have been a Pittsburgh Steeler fan since the 5th grade. I try to play golf, but with very random results. I enjoy working with wood and have built beds, chests, coat racks and now a dog house for our 8 month old beagle puppy named Rio. I like to travel to historical places. My favorite so far has been to visit Gettysburg. I hope to see the ruins in South America some day as well as Denmark where my family originated. My goal in life is to be a great husband, father, neighbor, see the world and finally win my fantasy football league, in that order.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have tried to live by the teachings of the church and keep the commandments given by our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ to living Prophets documented in the scriptures. I have made my share of mistakes but have found that when I try to do the things I know to be true I am happier. As a child I believed what I was taught, but it wasn't until I began to see the consequences and blessing that come to myself as a teenager and adult and others as the commandments are followed, that I began to know the teachings of Jesus are true and are meant to bring me happiness in this life and the next. I know God lives and He is our Father. I am his son and he knows me, loves me and has given me this life to learn and grow and become more like him. I know that he is, because I have believed in Him, I have studies the scriptures, I have prayed to him in all ernestness and felt his quiet light and love and I have tried to keep His commandments as best I can. This simple pattern of believing, learning, doing and then becoming is how I have gained my knowlege that God lives. Despite my knowlege of my Heavenly Father and His plan for me, I still make mistakes. Our Heavely Father sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to suffer and die for us, so we can have the opportunity to repent and overcome our desires to sin. By accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior, accepting the terms of his atonement, and then doing our best to keep his comandments we are not only forgiven of our sins but we also become more like Him and our Heavenly Father, filled with love toward all men. Through the love and grace of Jesus Christ, we will not only be able to return and live with our Heavely Father, but having been allowed the wonderful blessing of coming to this earth, gaining a physical body and being allowed to learn and grow through our own experiences we will better understand our own eternal nature.

How I live my faith

I try to live the way my Heavenly Father would want me to. I am far from perfect, but am so greatful that as imperfect as i am, there is still room for me to contribute the best I can. I enjoy visiting members of the church in their homes. I try to think of them as I pray before i go, hoping I can serve them as Jesus would if he were in their home at that time. At times it involves leaving a short lesson on Christ, and other times it involves helping them move into a new apartment or watching the kids. I am fortunate to work with a company that also values serving in the community. I have been able to work with members of many different faiths to build houses, decorate elementry class rooms, visit inmates forgotten, remodel librarys and serve at the homeless kitchens. One of the greatest blessings has been to watch my children participate in some of these activities. I imagine the love and happiness I feel watching them show love to others is in a very small part what our Heavenly Father must feel as He watches us love and serve one another.
