Hi I'm Verd O. Rogers

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 74 years old and I was born in Bluewater, NM. Our family moved back to Mesa, AZ when I was just 9 months old and I have lived here ever since with the exception of my Senior year of High School when I went to Chloride Arizona to live with an Aunt and Uncle and go to school in Kingman. After graduation I worked at odd jobs for a year and then I went to work for Salt River Project, a utility company in the valley. I worked for them for just over 42 years, retiring at the age of 60. I met my wife at a Church sponsored dance on a Friday night – Friday the 13th. Some people might think that this would be an unlucky thing but I don’t think so, we have been married now for 55 years and we celebrate our anniversary on every Friday the 13th that comes along. We have 4 children, Debra, Kathy, LaMar, and Karl. They have given us 26 grand-children and 16 great-grand-children all of who have blessed our lives greatly. I enjoy working in my shop building things with wood. Each of my Grand-daughters get a cedar chest that I build for them when they graduate from High School. I enjoy photography and traveling in our motor home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5th generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints so I was brought up in the Church but I have studied and prayed and sought for my own Testimony of the truthfulness of it. I know that my Savior lives and loves me. I know that I have a Heavenly Father that loves me and is there for me at all times. I want to do everything that I can do live in accordance with their mind and will and it is in the Mormon Church where I find these teaching.

How I live my faith

Right now my wife and I are serving as service missionaries at the Mesa Temple working in the cafeteria two days a week. We also served as full time missionaries at the Palmyra Historical Sites in New York for a year teaching people about the restoration of the Church. I strive to be of service whenever I am needed and I do my best to live as Christ would have me live.
