Hi I'm Cyndie

Although I've traveled about the world to several countries I have lived a large amount of my life in Arizona USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Cyndie, and I am a Mormon through and through. I guess you could almost say I was born and raised Latter-Day Saint but that would just barely not be correct, because, actually, I was about one and a half years old when the missionaries found and taught my family in Illinois. I love doing genealogy and for many years was a ward family history library worker, and a family history consultant. My husband and I had eight wonderful children and they have blessed us with eight grand children and one more on the way which is due early in 2012, while we were married for 26 years. This is a relatively new chapter in my life learning to be a strong single mom for the children who I am blessed to still have at home living with me. I am a High School teacher in Northern AZ which I love. I have began writing my life history many times, but need to compile it as I know that work too is so necessary. I guess you can say that the bug has bitten me and I love genealogy work in any form!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in the 9th grade in Mesa Arizona our Jr High School was blessed to have released time LDS seminary available as an elective class at that time. I think I was about 14 yrs old and I was very eager to learn more about the church which I was a member of. My first seminary experience was the the Book of Mormon, in later years followed by the Bible-New, and Old Testaments , and then Church History, Doctrine of Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Before this time I had never challenged or questioned anything which I was taught as I just merely accepted the teachings as truth because my mother or another respected adult teacher had taught me these religious principles and truths. For the first time a teacher (my seminary teacher) told us that if we wanted to know if anything was true for ourselves, we could exercise faith by, studying it out, pondering it, and fasting and praying about it to receive answers from the Lord. After reading the entire Book of Mormon I decided to do just that. I believed that if the Lord could speak with a young boy of the age of 14 to tell him his will for restoring the gospel to this Earth then he could answer my questions to him through prayer as well. I studied, pondered, fasted and prayed to know if Jesus Christ was my Savior and if he had suffered all things through an Atonement which was meant for all. I prayed too to know if the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. My soul did burn and my mind was opened up to the truthfulness of these things. I will not say that I have completely walked in righteousness from that day forth as we are human and we do at times make mistakes, but I know where to turn for a remission of my sins and I know that our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ live and they love each of us! I know too that the Book of Mormon is true, and that we have a living prophet on the Earth who speaks with God today, and I share this testimony because I know this to be truth.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life each day so that I can be seen as an example of what I believe in. I am a firm believer that "As a man (or woman) thinketh, so is he (or she)." It isn't so important to me that everyone know that I have spent many years in school studying to be a High School teacher as it is that people meet me and feel a connection with the spirit of the Lord. I want to live my life in such a way so that others will say things about me like.., "She really did try to live as the Lord would have her live." I hope to be a righteous example for my children and for my grandchildren, my nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and to others that I meet and associate with everyday. I pray daily that I might be able to be faithful to the end, by living in a way which will be pleasing before the Lord. I love doing genealogy and have a real connection with my ancestors as I learn of each of them the stories all come to life making them seem more real to me. I have gained a great love for all of my father in Heaven's children and I hope to develop a compassion for each of themin a manner which is like unto our Savior's love for each of us.
