Hi I'm Carolyn

I'm a Mormon. I have lived the past 27 years outside the USA in South Africa, Peru, Chile and Australia.

About Me

I am a mother of four daughters and have eight grandchildren. My husband and I have been married for 38 years. I love to play golf and have played on club volleyball teams for many years. I play the piano and sing alto in choirs. I have been able to find a "family" around the world because of my participation and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. My husband has recently retired and we have taken the opportunity to serve an 18 month mission for the church. We will be serving in the South Africa Cape Town Mission starting October 2013. We are excited for this calling and look forward to serving the people of South Africa again. We lived in Johannesburg for 16 years and know and love the culture, food, diversities of peoples and beauty of landscape that is uniquely South African.

Why I am a Mormon

I am lucky to have been raised a Mormon. My mother was baptized when I was 5 years old. My parents taught me the principles of the Gospel. These principles and values have shaped me into the woman I am today. I relied on my parents' testimonies while growing up, but in my teenage and college years developed a testimony of my own. I know this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that he guides and directs us through a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. We are blessed with the knowledge that families are forever. We lost our son when he was only 15 months old. We know he is a part of our family and that we will be together with him in the future. This knowledge has strengthened our family through the trials and challenges of everyday life. We have been very blessed as we live the gospel.

How I live my faith

I have been given many opportunities to develop my talents, learn new skills and become more spiritual by participating in the organizations of the Church. I have developed my musical talents, become comfortable with speaking to a large congregation and teaching in classroom situations. I have planned multi-day conferences for youth between the ages of 14 - 18. I was in charge of a Cub Scout Pack that was sponsored by the Church in South Africa. I have learned many homemaking skills through participation in the Womens' organization. I have also been able to help others develop skills as I have shared my talents. I am so thankful for the many men and women who have taught and interacted with my children and have been blessed to be able to influence other children to choose the right.
