Hi I'm Jacqui

I am a quirky yet classy lady, a spanish guitarist, a lover of foods, a celebrator of knowledge, a hard worker, and a Mormon!

About Me

I'd consider myself a very motivated person and a thinker of deep thoughts. Growing up, I was known for being a good student, playing classical guitar ("spanish elevator music)", and of course for being a Mormon. I was always the super band geek, and that girl on the drum line playing the quads. I'm a pretty happy person. In my spare time I love to play music and to read. Some of my favorite books are, "Enders Game", "The Hobbit", and "The Alchemist", to name a few... My family is very important to me. I am always trying to be a good example to my little brothers and cousins who look up to me. I grew up in the country side making up games an having adventures with my cousins. As I have gotten older, I still love adventures. One of my favorite things is to go boating, and spend the day out exploring the islands, or fishing, or just enjoying being out on the ocean. I'm no good at sports, but I love being outside, hiking is so fun! I love working with people! I especially love meeting people from different parts of the world, learning about them and their cultures; looking for similarities. I am fascinated by languages, especially ones I can't speak which is all but two: english and bad spanish. I think it's important to understand different views and perspectives about the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised LDS. I have stayed in this Church because of the blessings and mini miracles I have seen in my life everyday. I have faith in my Heavenly Father and believe that he hears and answers my prayers. I also believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be, just that: a restoration of the church established by Christ when he came and lived on the Earth. I have studied the scriptures and found that the LDS Church, restored through Joseph Smith by Jesus Christ, is indeed the same organization that Christ established in New Testament times. Having read the Book of Mormon, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God, and I know that we still have a prophet on the Earth today. I am a Mormon because I love learning truth. The eternal truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ fill me with happiness, peace and purpose.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time, always striving for personal growth. I am trying to understand and rely upon the teachings and atonement of Christ, and I strive everyday to follow the example he set for me when he came to live on Earth. I do my best to help people in whatever way I can, usually that means just being around to listen. I strive to leave people feeling better then when I found them. I work to keep the commandments and listen to the promptings of the Spirit that guide my life. I am continually trying to develop and strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

This is something I have been thinking a lot about lately. So how do we get to know Him? Well, just like any good relationship, it begins by communicating with him. The medium we have to talk to him is prayer. He loves you and wants to hear from you. While he knows your worries and concerns, hopes and aspirations, dreams and wishes, he wants to hear them from you. As we talk to him, we come to know through experience, that we are talking to a real being. Your literal Father in Heaven. Through prayer we come to know of his love and his kindness. It gives us hope, and the faith to obey His words. I would encourage you to pray tonight, and ask Heavenly Father, if he loves you. I promise, you will feel his love, if you pray in faith, believing that you will receive. You can also come to know Father in Heaven through diligent scripture study. In the scriptures, we can read the experiences shared by the prophets of old, who have written down their dealings with God. We can also come to know our Heavenly Father by studying the life of His son, Jesus Christ. John 5:19 "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." Lastly, it is essential that as we learn our Father's will for us, that we then go and do the things which he has commanded us. So. Seek and pray for God's love, study the scriptures, and obey His words. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We definitely do not worship the prophet Joseph Smith. We worship God our Eternal Father, and his son Jesus the Christ, Savior of all mankind. We do have immense gratitude for Joseph Smith. For his willingness to do all that was asked of him, and to be such an important instrument in the hands of God, as the simple, precious truths of the Gospel as well as the proper priesthood authority were restored to the Earth.
