Hi I'm Maggie

I was born and raised in England but now reside in USA I'm a Mormon and proud of it.

About Me

I was born in England post WWII,so I grew up during the 50's and 60's which were revolutionary times. I am married to Malcolm and although we do not have any children of our own he helped me raise my 3 boys from previous marriages. We also brought up his daughter and son from his previous marriage. We have between us 10 grandchildren. I graduated with my first degree in 2000 in Sociology with History and then gained my Masters in Social Work in 2005. I retired from Social Work in the UK to come to the United States to live to be nearer 2 of my children, I am still reviewing my options on what to do now I am here. I love to cook, sew and knit, I especially love to be with my family and I also love to travel. I enjoy reading and going to the movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was Christened and Confirmed in the Church of England, attended a Roman Catholic School, and went to Sunday School at my village Methodist Chapel. So as you can imagine my thoughts were very jumbled. I had and have always believed in God but could never find the right church for me, I had always felt there was something missing in my life. My son met and married and American girl, who had been a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints all her life. After they married my son found the Gospel and was Baptized into the Church. Because of his conversion I began my investigation and journey into the Church. As soon as I entered into the Chapel in Las Vegas I knew I had found the true Church. A few months after my son's Baptism, I followed him and was Baptized. This was the best decision of my life and one I have never regretted. To join the Church meant a whole new way of life, but one I adjusted to very quickly because I know it is how Our Heavenly Father wants us to live.

How I live my faith

At present my calling within my ward (branch) is as a Visiting Teacher Supervisor. Nearly every woman over the age of 18 years of age, is a Visiting Teacher, which means with another Sister we go and see or telephone other Sisters within our ward to ensure they are OK. We ensure they are both physically and spiritually taken care of and if there is anything we can do for them we report back to our Supervisor who will organize whatever service they need. I also support my husband in his calling. I try to live the Gospel by daily Scripture Study, prayer and reflection.
