Hi I'm Heather

I'm a student. I'm a dancer. I'm a wife and daughter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married wife, full time student and paralegal. I enjoy dancing, writing music, trying new food, motorcycle rides with my husband, playing games, and traveling to new places. I'm very laid back and prefer to take life as it comes! My husband and I love to be spontaneous and are enjoying it will we can!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because following the teachings of this religion provides a greater happiness than anything else this world has to offer. I have lived varying degrees of righteousness in my life, and I assure you this is the key to finding your path and finding happiness within yourself and purpose for your life. I have felt a tangible difference in my day to day life when I choose to be obedient and faithful to the commandments of the Lord and have learned that I can't afford to let things slide. I am truly addicted to feeling an abundance of the Spirit in my life! The teachings of the gospel illuminate my life's path with guidance and assurance that God is with me and every other human being every step of the way, if we let him. I am Mormon because we have the fullness of the gospel. I have come to know through study and prayer that the teachings of the Book of Mormon are true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet who restored the gospel to the earth. I also had the privilege of being married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity to the love of my life and am grateful to know that my relationship with him is not "until death do us part." I am Mormon because I know that revelation is not dead and that God continues to speak to us today through our living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I do not fear because I know I am a part of a church that is being guided and directed by God himself. This is just a morsel of what the church has to offer every human being! Members frequently refer to the gospel as "the good news." That is the truth! It is GREAT NEWS that everyone should hear and study for themselves. It can be good news for you too.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by treating my body and life as a gift from God. Life is a gift that we have been given from our Heavenly Father and he has a plan for each of us. I also live my faith by keeping my heart open to his plan for me and by having respect for my body and abstaining from drugs, alcohol and any activity which would keep me from healthily being able to fulfill his will for me while I’m on this earth. I also live my faith by remembering 2 Nephi 2:27 which reminds us that "men are that they might have joy." God wants us to be happy! While I strive daily to become more like Jesus Christ, I try to remember that life is to be enjoyed. As I FIND my own personal JOY, I seek to SHARE that joy with others and help them come to understand that they too have a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for them and yearns to be more involved in their lives if they let him in.

Are Mormons Christians?

Heather
The principals of the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints could not exist nor be complete without recognition of Jesus Christ's life, crucifixion and resurrection. We focus on Christ as the ultimate example of what we should strive to be in our daily lives. It is also through the Atonement of Christ that we can be forgiven of our sins. Through proper repentance, we can be forgiven and freed of the burden of sin. This merciful and freeing process would not be possible without the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We are most definitely Christian! People often don't realize that "Mormon" is a nickname, but the true name of the Mormon Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jesus Christ is central to our beliefs. We love, worship, and strive to emulate him. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Heather
I attribute the growth of the church to the fullness of truth that it provides. The church provides a greater purpose to life. We also have a living prophet which is very unique. There are few things that bring me more solace than the fact that this church is being directed by a prophet of God. The church also provides a great support system. I have moved multiple times in my life and have always found solace in the fact that I will have a church family that provides love, support, and friendship no matter where I am! I also attribute the growth of the church to the examples of the members themselves. We are a friendly and a happy people. People are very often drawn to the people initially because of their friendliness and then later found out what the church has to truly offer. They are then drawn in because of the teachings of the gospel and the witness of their truth that is received through study and prayer. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Heather
The spreading and influence of pornography is so prevalent in our world today. Children have the world of the internet at their fingertips at such a young age now days. I believe the home is the most effective place to treat this problem. First and foremost, parents should initially teach their children to recognize the Holy Ghost and it's presence or the lack thereof. The Holy Ghost is an invaluable tool that can guide each one of us on a daily basis and can steer us away from evil if we are living worthily of his companionship. It is also parents and/or spouses responsibilities to create a home atmosphere to the best of their ability where the temptations of Satan do not have as many opportunities to penetrate. This can be accomplished in many ways, but just to name a few... not having any tv stations that present questionable material available for viewing, having the family computer in a visible place in the house, limiting how much time a day can be spent on the computer, or installing software which limits which websites that can be visited and/or tracking the websites that have been visited. There are also some great 12 step programs for addictions that are very helpful and provide support for those who are trying to overcome addictions. It is very important to continue to extend your love and support to those who are overcoming addiction so they know they are not alone in their journey. Show more Show less
