Hi I'm Duane

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work at a local community hospital as an Emergency Physician where I have been for the past 17 years. I am married (for 24 years) and have five children, ages ranging from 22 to 12. I enjoy sports, especially basketball, which I used to play whenever I had the chance. I now get to attend my kids' sporting activities including lacrosse and football games and swimming meets. I also enjoy watching my daughter dance at her competitions and recitals. I like working in the yard, taking my wife to lunch, fixing things around the house, traveling, and hanging out with my family, especially when my older kids come for a visit.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church, so I have always believed that the gospel is true. However, I had to find out for myself that the teachings of the Church are true. I decided to serve a mission for the Church when I was 19 years old and studied the scriptures and prayed that I could have my own testimony. Because of that experience and many since, I know that God lives, that His son, Jesus Christ lives and died for all of us, that His gospel has been restored to the earth by a prophet of God and that the Church is led by a prophet today.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different capacities in the Church, including running the Sunday School, teaching the youth, serving as an assistant scoutmaster, and leading the choir in our congregation. Currently, I am the clerk for our unit, which is called a ward. I am responsible for keeping track of the membership and finances of our ward. I truly enjoy helping our Bishop (the ward leader) be able to care for the members more efficiently. I also serve as a home teacher with my 16 year old son. This involves keeping track of and visiting three families in the ward, helping them in any way that we can, and making sure they feel a part of the ward. This is something I have been blessed to do since I was 14 years old. These activities confirm to me that the programs of the Church are good and sanctioned by the Lord.
