Hi I'm erika

I am a wife & mother to FOUR daughters. I hike, play golf, read & sometimes play piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a young girl I always knew I would be a mother but in my mind that meant a mother to boys. I had visions of signing them up for hockey or baseball, going camping and getting dirty. Heavenly Father had something else in mind for me because we just recently added our fourth daughter to the family. So instead of hockey & baseball we do tea parties and dress-ups. My girls are tough though, we are constantly reminding them that there are "no wussy girls in the family". We still have lots of tears but we also have lots of loves and kisses. I wouldn't trade them for anything. I thank heaven for MY little girls. I did not grow up in a very athletic family but I can hike. Thanks to my husband, my favorite place to hike is Southern Utah. I grew up in Washington & the first time I saw the orange and red rocks at sunrise I was awestruck. I had never seen anything like it, it was breathtaking. The most memorable hike I have been on would have to be Angels Landing in Zion National Park, definitely not for the faint at heart, and yet still there are thousands of people who do it every year. I play the piano which is great but I want to branch out, so this Christmas my husband bought me a guitar. He plays & sings & I want to join in on the fun. Having a baby this year has put my practicing on hold but I plan to pick it up again soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was Mormon & feel that this was a great blessing. I had wonderful parents who taught me about a loving Father in Heaven & about the sacrifice made for all of us by Jesus Christ. Not only did they teach me but they showed me by example by trying to live lives that embodied the principles taught by our Savior. I feel the happiest when I try to do the same & strive to set the same example for my children. I want to be a good person & living the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me do that.

How I live my faith

I am not inherently a compassionate or service oriented person but as a member of this church I feel that I am given opportunities often to help not only members of the church but those in the community as well. Normally, I would even think to seek out opportunities to help those around me when I do I understand why Christ taught the parable of the Good Samaritan. I LOVE the way I feel when I help someone, even anonymously. Christ taught many parables which help me feel that same wonderful feeling when I make choices to live accordingly. I try so hard to be a peacemaker, to be honest, to be meek & to hunger for righteousness. When I do, I find that I am happy & when I don't, I am not. It's as simple as that.
