Hi I'm Garrett

I'm a sports fan. I'm a construction project manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of two kids, a boy (5) and girl (3) and have been married for 10 years. My son has autism, which has become a very big and important part of our lives. I work in the commerical construction industry & my wife 'stays at home' (she is really pretty busy running kids to and from activities, therapies, school, etc.). I love to play soccer- especially indoor, I've played my whole life. I really like to watch NFL football, and enjoy fantasy football too. I enjoy the outdoors and like to work on home improvement projects when I can find time.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been raised as a mormon, but have gained my own conviction of what I know about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me to be a better father & husband. I love that I can surround myself with other men who are in similar life circumstances and be a part of a support system from which I and my brothers at church can draw upon for support. I can call on them to help me cut down a tree if I need, or I can help them move or whatever the circumstance my be. I'm grateful that I can ground my thinking & decision making in sound moral judgements because of what I learn when I attend church. I'm grateful for the priceless opportunity I had to share the gospel with the people in Brazil as a missionary. I am deeply appreciative for the priesthood power which has blessed my life and for the chance I have to excersize that same authority to bless the lives of others. I love the fact that my family is eternal and the perspective that it gives in dealing with everyday trials. I really enjoy listening to a prophet who intimately understands, from on High, what I must do to find favor in my Father in Heaven's eyes. I am a simple person, who is humbled to be a member of this great church.

How I live my faith

I really like to visit and get to know the people in my congregation in their homes. I'm even happier when they call on me for a need that I can help fulfill for them such as praying with them or for them, helping them move, paint, fix a car, tutor their child, or providing any type of support whenever they need it. I also help the young boys in the congregation in their cub scout program. I meet with them weekly and try to provide structure so they can earn their activity badges and rank advancements. The scout program helped me as a boy & young man, so I like to pass on what I've learned to help them grow and diversify their interests. I also get the opportunity to teach the other men, my peers, once a month. I use the scriptures and the information provided by our prophet to teach others how to make rightious choices that will inevitably help us all grow closer to God (myself included).
