Hi I'm Mindy Smith

I have 3 (almost 4!) CRAZY kids. I'm an avid waterskiier, I have to MAKE myself go to the gym, I love to craft, and I am a mormon!

About Me

I am 29 years old and I am a mother. I love to be a mom, but most days it is SO hard! But it's all worth it. I love to play sports, and do things outside. Our family tries to go camping as much as we can, although I like to sleep on an air mattress now- my body isn't want it used to be when I was younger! I have a college degree in Special Education, and taught preschool for a few years before my husband and I started our family. I really love to teach, and hope to return to it someday when my family life allows it. I love to sew and make crafts although I don't do it as much as I would hope to. My family is everything to me. I am extremely close to all of my extended family, and have found so much as well in my husbands family. Right now I am into training for triathlons- I did my first one this past summer and am hooked! I love road biking- I find it very liberating and exhilarating. I love people. Getting to know people is one of my favorite things to do, and I like to try and do as much as I can to help others- whenever I can- because it makes me feel better about myself. I don't have a perfect life- but I have a wonderful one. One that I try each day to make better.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is true. It is what brings me happiness. There have been SO many times in my life where I have maybe felt alone, or sad, or out of place. It has always been something in the church that has comforted me. I grew up in the church, so I don't know what it is like to be a convert and to hear the gospel for the first time. But I do have a strong testimony. My parents raised me to be a good person- and I am striving to teach my own children to be good people too. I know that we have a living prophet today, and I know that he receives direct revelation from our Heavenly Father on how to run his church here on the earth. The gospel is such a comfort. I would be lost without it. It gives me guidance in every decision that I make, and I am so grateful for the knowledge that I don't have to do ANYTHING alone in this life. This life is hard enough without having to do everything by yourself. I find immense comfort in the knowledge that I am sealed- for eternity- to the man that I love. He is my better half, and I strive each day to be worthy of his love. The best part about it all- he loves me back! The relationship that we have is what drives us to be better people. I am a better person because of him, and he is because of me. I am grateful that my Savior lived and died for me. I know that he would have done it for JUST me if he was asked, and that makes me so happy. I live each day in the hopes that I can return to Heavenly Father someday and live for eternity with my own little family. That is the promise that the gospel brings, and there is not a better promise in all the world! I know that the church is true. I have known it for all of my life, and I will continue to know it forever and ever.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings (jobs or assignments asked of me by Heavenly Father) within the church. Right now, I have one of the greatest callings ever though. I get to work with the youth! It is SO much fun to be able to help them to find themselves in the hardest times of their lives. It is not easy being a teenager, and if there is anything that I can do to help them, then I will do it. I also get to have the privilege of visiting with a few other sisters each month. Some call it forced friendship. I call it a chance to meet someone that you might perhaps not get the chance to know very well under different circumstances. The sisters that I visit with, and am visited by are some of my dearest friends. I love them, and trust them in many aspects of my life. I have had lots of callings in the church, and I have loved each and every one of them. Some have been more demanding on my time than others, but they all give me blessings from Heavenly Father for helping to further his work.
