Hi I'm Craig

I am a family man, and a Scouter, who works in the Criminal Justice Profession. "I am a Mormon"

About Me

I am an ordinary man that tries the best I can, each day, to be the best husband to a wonderful and beautiful daughter of God. We have been married for 20 years. We have 4 great & awesome children that I love to spend time with. I enjoy watching and coaching the sports that my children participate in (even though some would say I may take it too seriously). I have coached Little League Baseball, youth football, soccer, and softball. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout when I was a Boy Scout and have been an adult leader in the Boy Scouts for 23 years. I have worked in the Law Enforcement Profession for 21 years. In my personal time I love to be in the quiet of the outdoors watching and experiencing nature. I participate in camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing and when I find the time, I like to golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). As I grew up, I learned the doctrines and the principles of the Gospel but, when I reached adulthood, I had to find out for myself if the things that I had been taught were true. I began by reading the Book of Mormon. I then fasted & prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was the word of God and if Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, I received confirmation that these things are true. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he lived a perfect (sin free) life. That in the Garden of Gethsemane he atoned for the sins of the world. And upon the cross he freely gave his life to overcome death and provide the gift of resurrection to all of Gods children. Upon receiving a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel, it is easy to be a member of the Church Because I know that this is Gods church on earth. That it is led by a living prophet Thomas S. Monson. I know that the Authority & Priesthood power of God is used daily, to bless the lives of his children all around the world. I am a Mormon because; I want to be a numbered among the members of Gods Church and to help his children in any way I can. I want to be a servant of my savior, and to do whatever I can, to help others to know him and to understand his atonement and the great love that he extends to all of Gods Children. I am a Mormon because; I love my Savior Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven who sent him!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by emulating the Saviors example in my own life. Personally I strive to read the scriptures (Bible & Book of Mormon) and to pray to my Heavenly Father daily. As a husband to my wife, I strive to be the Priesthood holder and eternal companion that she saw in me, as we knelt across the alter, in the Lord's Temple and were sealed for time and for all eternity. For my children, I try to set the proper example of what a husband and father should be. I strive to spend as much time with them as I can and try to support them in all they do. For the community, I volunteer as often as I can. I try to give the youth of the community a place to go and wholesome activities that they can participate in rather than doing things that they should not be doing. In my church callings, I do my best to teach the doctrines and principles of the Gospel to everyone I come into contact with. In my calling in the Boy Scouts of America, I try to ensure that there are quality activities for the Young men to participate in that will let them have spiritual experiences which will bring them closer to their Savior Jesus Christ. As a follower of Christ, I live my faith one moment at a time, trying to make good use of the time that I am given on this earth.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Craig
I believe that we are considered a 'cult' because of several different misunderstood reasons. 1). People know us by our nickname 'Mormon' which is because we believe in the Book of Mormon, and not by the name of the Church which is 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.' 2). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a reorganized Church and not a break off from any other church, which gives opportunities for others to question the validity and authority of the church. 3). We believe that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are 3-separate and distinct personages and are one in purpose only. This is very different from what most other churches teach about the Godhead. 4). As a church, we build sacred Holy Temples to perform the saving ordinances that are spoken of in the scriptures. The fact that only worthy members of the church are permitted to enter the Holy Temples, and that the temples are not open to the public, causes a sense of secrecy. The ordinances that are performed in the Temples are held as holy and sacred, not secret. 5).We believe in modern day revelation that began in this dispensation with the first vision to Joseph Smith. Others may see it as that we worship Joseph Smith and not Jesus Christ. We hold Joseph Smith as a great latter-day prophet who was an instrument in God’s hands in restoring his church to the world. But, Jesus Christ is the son of God and the Savior of the world and this is his Church and not a 'cult'. Show more Show less
