Hi I'm Chanel

I'm a wife, mother, teacher and writer. I love reading, cooking, sleeping, eating and being outdoors. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. I spend most of my time with my husband and two beautiful daughters. I love reading and writing. I read fiction, nonfiction, stories, poetry. I mostly write stories that explore relationships between generations, especially if they are set outdoors. I also enjoy gardening, knitting, watching television, parenting and sleeping. I love Indian food and think that cheeseburgers are one of the most powerful forces on earth. I teach developmental writing and reading classes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, but like most people, questioned my faith as a teenager. As I was studying the Gospels, I became very frustrated. There were inconsistencies between the books, and I wanted so badly to know what was true, or if it was true at all. I prayed, studied more, and as I found answers, my faith grew. I remember one specific day where I felt so strongly that if I wanted to find out the truth, I was in the right place. I knew that my answers were available only through the restored gospel. I have had many similar experiences since. I am a Mormon because I believe that Christ lives, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I am a Mormon because I continue to find joy as I faithfully practice my religion.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the greatest commandments: love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. I don't live them perfectly, but have found that I do better when I pray, read my scriptures, and go to church. I serve in the church by organizing activities where women can come together to learn about the gospel, learn how to enrich their own lives, and learn how to strengthen their homes, families, and communities.

What is the priesthood?

Chanel
The priesthood is the power of God. It was by the priesthood that the universe was created. Through the priesthood, God performs miracles on earth. A worthy man can be given priesthood authority to baptize, and perform other ordinances in God's name. The priesthood is given for service and cannot be used selfishly to gain power or influence.
