Hi I'm Taylor

I'm a Mormon, a health insurance attorney, and a father. My faith is my foundation.

About Me

My amazing wife and I love watching our young son experience the world in new ways. I enjoy working as in-house counsel for a not-for-profit health insurer. Some of my other interests include classical guitar, spending time outdoors, morning runs, and Russian literature.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because church membership has benefited my family, taught me about Jesus Christ, and helped me get closer to God. Reading the Book of Mormon, worshiping on Sundays, and following the principles our church teaches gives me lasting happiness and peace. In a world full of uncertainty, hardships, and distractions, my faith gives me purpose and hope, along with motivation to improve myself and help others.

How I live my faith

I hold on to faith as an anchor during trying times. My wife and I hoped for children earlier in our marriage but the opportunity didn't come right away. Trying to wait patiently, stay positive, and pray for help from the Lord sustained us until we were blessed to become parents. When our son was a few months old I distinctly remember looking down at him during church one Sunday and feeling the overwhelming love of a parent. I realized that this is how Heavenly Father must feel toward us. I was also struck by the innocence and peace that I saw in our newborn son. I better understood that through the power of Christ we can all become pure and perfect as little children. I have faith that God can direct our lives for good when we turn to Him and try to follow Christ.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Taylor
I've come to know who God is and what He wants me to do by praying and receiving answers. God has given me answers through passages I've read in the Bible and Book of Mormon, through advice from parents, friends, and church leaders, and through strong feelings and impressions I've had. I also come to know God better and feel closer to Him when I'm following what our church teaches. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Taylor
The Book of Mormon is a remarkable book that helps me draw closer to God and find answers to critical questions. When reading it I better understand the meaning of life and how to find lasting happiness in a challenging world. Similar to the Bible, the Book of Mormon contains ancient writings passed on to us by prophets. Like Moses of the Old Testament, the prophet-writers of the Book of Mormon were righteous men with authority from God to teach and lead others. We have the Book of Mormon today thanks to the work of a modern prophet. In the 1800s, Joseph Smith received power and authority from God to translate the Book of Mormon and set up Christ’s church on the earth. The Book of Mormon outlines spiritual principles and shows how these principles apply in real life. Initial chapters describe a family leaving ancient Jerusalem for the Americas. Their literal journey compares to the journey of life we all travel as we try to reach a better place (or “promised land”- see 1 Nephi 17:14, pg. 37). Civilizations that developed in the Americas prospered when they followed God and failed when they rejected Him. The Book of Mormon captures these highs and lows, encouraging us to follow God’s way so we can be blessed. After reading, praying, and pondering, I can tell you that I know the Book of Mormon is true. I encourage you to read, ponder, and pray for your own answer. Show more Show less
