Hi I'm Latina

I'm a wife, the mom of three, a Social Worker, I love cooking and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After finishing my undergrad I went to work in telecommunications and then medical software. Several years in I realized that I my heart was in social justice and serving others. I kept my job in technology but headed back to school to earn a Masters in Social Work from University of Texas (Hook’em) I love finding ways to help people understand that they are better than their circumstances and working with them to find a path to a better life. My husband and I have been blessed with a son and twin girls . Three little kids running around has been crazy but is fun. As a family we love the outdoors and especially National Parks. I’m Italian and I always joke that my inner Italian makes me feed people. If you come to my house you’re going to get food and it’s probably not good for you. To combat this I have learned to love running.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the LDS church before I was born so I was raised a member of my faith. That said, I had to discover for myself that this was what I believed. This is an ongoing process for me. I love reading the scriptures, especially the parts of New Testament and Book of Mormon when Christ is ministering directly to the people. It maybe because of my love of hands on work with people, but when I read of His ministry, I receive a confirmation from the Holy Spirit that I am following the Savior when I practice my faith. I have wondered what I would do if I choose a different path. I think about all that I love in life, all that makes life worth it. My understanding that I am the daughter of God, he sent me here with a purpose, and that I can be with him again with my family. When I listen to the prophet I know that he tells me what Christ would. I am accountable for what I do and my standing before God. I find so much peace in the understanding that my relationship with God is personal and am so grateful for the restored gospel that teaches me these things.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday all day. It makes me think about how I treat people and how I spend my time. Knowing my family is with me forever helps me remember to treat them with kindness and respect. Because I believe my body is a gift from God, I try to take care of it by exercising, eating well and dressing in a way that shows respect for myself and everyone around me. I go to church every Sunday and work with the teenage girls during the week. I try to help where I’m needed for those I go to church with, but also for my neighbors and friends aren’t of my faith. I really try to ask myself what Jesus would do if He were here.
