Hi I'm Wayne

I grew up working on a cattle ranch in New Mexico, but I now work with computers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was eight years old my family moved from California to New Mexico so that my dad could get started in the cattle business. While growing up most of my Saturdays and summers were spent working on the ranch with my dad and older brother. It was a lot of work but I learned a lot and I have great memories of those times. I wasn't involved in sports as we lived 50 miles from my high school, but my friends and I loved to ride dirt bikes. After I graduated from high school I started racing motorcycles and was sponsored by a local motorcycle shop, and did quite well before being called for two years as a Mormon missionary to Oregon. After my mission and after graduating from college I got a job in New Zealand selling computers. I didn't sell many but did meet my future wife. We are happily married and have raised four wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon Church by parents who loved me and my siblings, and loved the Church and were very devoted to it. Although they had a powerful positive influence on me, like everyone else, I had to find out for myself if this church is the true church. Through many personal experiences I have come to find out that it is. This knowledge has come to me through careful study and personal prayer. It has also come through learning the doctrine or teachings of the church, and then striving to apply them in my life. Without fail, when I sincerely apply the teachings with the right attitude, the doctrine or teaching works as promised. Please don't misunderstand me. Just like any successful endeavor it usually requires effort and perseverance on my part. Like a friend of mine once said, "I know the gospel is true simply because it works". I believe Jesus Christ said it best, “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” (John 7:17)

How I live my faith

Like all active members of the Mormon Church I have an assignment or calling. Currently I work in the scouting organization as the Scout Committee Chairman. Scouting is an important part of the church's young men's organization as it teaches honesty, good citizenship, and other traits that help young men become responsible adults, and devoted husbands and fathers. As the Committee Chairman I help the other adult scout leaders with their responsibilities. I also help and encourage the young men who have reached to appropriate scout rank to complete their Eagle projects and become Eagle Scouts. Over the years I have been assigned a variety of responsibilities. Each has helped me become a better and kinder person as I have tried to help those I serve.
