Hi I'm Sam

I'm a first year medical student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a first year medical student and 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. I stay active: skiing, mountain biking, hiking, running, rafting, cycling, and competing in triathlons.

Why I am a Mormon

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings me great peace. I know that God is my Father, He loves me and has a plan for me. He wants to help me achieve my goals and become the very best that I can be. I know that as I live the gospel, keep the commandments, serve others, and strive to become more like Jesus Christ I can reach my full potential as a son of God. The knowledge that God has a plan for me gives me direction. I learn about this plan by attending church, reading the scriptures, and listening to the Prophet and other church leaders. God's plan is for us to be happy. The biggest joy in my life is my wife and my family. God's plan of happiness enables us to be together forever as a family. This is possible only through Jesus Christ. As I strive to be obedient to God's commandments, I can qualify for this blessing.

How I live my faith

Balancing the demands of medical school with my responsibilities as a husband and my duties in the church can be a challenge. The opportunity to serve in the church as an assistant secretary to the bishopric is a huge blessing in my life. It brings me a sense of accomplishment. It feels good to help others. This joy of service has led to my involvement in many other organizations such as the volunteer ski patrol, hospital and other medically related volunteer programs, habitat for humanity, academic tutoring, and the Special Olympics. I love rendering service to others.
