Hi I'm Alan Sodenkamp

I grew up in Kent Washington, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Husband of 25 years to my Lovely Wife. We have raised Two wonderful son's. I have been in the building trades in various applications from Designing and building as well as structural design and lumber sales. I like camping, fishing, hunting. I enjoy tinkering in the garage on small projects and experimenting with ways of increasing the millage of my vehicle. What is most valuable to me is spending time with my family and friends and being helpful to others.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the phrase, "The gospel of Jesus Christ is beautifully simple and simply beautiful. I was baptized at eight years old and remember making the personal commitment to myself and to my Heavenly Father that I would strive to be the best example as a follower of Jesus Christ that I could be. Although I have been far from perfect, that early commitment has helped me to grow in the gospel and has helped me to be a better person and example to my family. The experiences within the Gospel of Jesus Christ have been a powerful influence for good in my life and the life of my family. Through the teachings of Christ I have been able to apply the principles of charity and love, I have been able to serve others, and in turn I have experienced the Love of others though their service to me and my family. What it comes down to is Charity, the pure love of Christ and our ability to build upon that principle in our lives which allows the love of Christ to grow within us and our Faith in Christ to grow. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is truly that simple.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed over the years to serve in various ways within the church. At age 19 I served a mission to the state of Nevada where I met many good people and was blessed in the service of others while sharing the message of the gospel. After returning home and meeting my Wife one of our first opportunity's to serve was as primary teachers to the 5 year old class. I have had some wonderful experiences with the scouting program and the shadow leadership principle in helping young men learn leadership skills. I am currently a scout committee member and have attended several Eagle board of reviews. I have had the opportunity to serve in the various organizations within the church in organizing special events and groups for community service, educational events on emergency preparedness and entertainment events such as a local performance of Handles Messiah. These are just a few of the ways I have been given the opportunity for service to others within our community. I look forward to many more opportunities to serve as the years progress.
